A young girl has gone viral giving her hot take on nerds. running the world. She states that all of the horrible things happening in today's time are set in place by "nerds and losers" who need to be bullied like they were when they were younger. A hot take indeed...

Same. Once I realized they will keep finding something to pick on if you change yourself what’s the point? Just stay authentically you and like what you like. You will eventually find people who like the same things as you. Also the funny thing is I am 19 and the kids I went to high school with and kids below me we all pretty much watch anime now. My mom teaches 3rd grade and they watch anime. It’s no longer just a nerd/geek thing.

Same here. I do not advocate bullying but some of those guys who grew to be technocrats psychos, deep down, they were always like that. I call them, the guys who did not get to be popular got bullied but they are like the mean kids/mean girls who bullied them. Some of those psychos also got to be sociopathic parents. My mom is one and she and her family, a den of lionesses, never had one ounce of sympathy. They were worse than the kids who bullied me. I would have loved for these (now adults) people to not be bullied and grown up in a healthy environment; it would have repressed their narcissistic tendencies, creating guilt to prevent them from hurting people, including their loved ones. But this is how it turned out. We can empathize without forgiving their bullying (which is way worse than what they went through) and their intentions towards us.

I think we're honestly the exception though. I was not one of the popular girls and dated I guess "nerds" in high school and they would treat me like garbage, worse than just the normal average guys so I kind of finding myself agreeing with her a teensy bit based on my personal experience, and the fact there's even men in my family who were bullied in school and now they're cops, etc in positions that I know they use to bully others as adults. Thankfully I finally found and married a gamer guy who actually treats me well and gets my "nerd" sense of humor. Not all are bad, but given an opportunity, they will likely abuse it, in my experience.

@notme1255 I can see that as well, but from my experience, my whole family is "nerds", even going as far as having WoW nights when WoW classic came out. My husband who would still be very much considered a nerd is also more on the right. But he was also raised by man who was raised to be the "hard ass" army man, so that may play a role in his opinions. I was definitely a more popular person in my school years but that was also bc I was the only true goth and didn't take guff from anyone. I could be friends with everyone and I dated all over the spectrum. I think this view is so crazy bc I do theatre, I have a theatre degree, and yes, there are some quirky people involved in any art form but the vast majority are “normal”, well liked and well adjusted individuals who just have an interest in art. The ironic thing about being bullies to "nerds" is that these bullies will make "nerds" become heartless to the point of indifference towards normies. It would then lead to the creation of the "evil genius" trope which the bullies want to avoid, especially when the nerds have great power.

One serious question from a german guy: is the social order in american schools actually built like in these highschool movies? I mean I also witnessed bullying and kids being more popular or even "powerful" than others, but intelligence and creativity didnt negativly correlate with popularity. Is that a thing over there? Is being an idiot a social advantage in USA schools?
@HannahKayW

Depends on the school. There’s definitely social dynamics, and it depends on the social makeup when it comes to dumb-ness being applauded or not. But generally speaking it comes down to social skills. Doesn’t matter if you are a painter, singer, cheerleader, gamer, etc, being able to roll with the punches, “be cool” and have general social skills gets you through high school in one piece. I had almost no social skills for various reasons and so was not popular at all. But it wasn’t because of my interests or cuz I was nerdy.

High school isn't even real, in terms of actual life experience. It's a fake society with a forced pecking order in a weirdly contrived environment. Nowhere else do you cram people the same age into rooms and force them to exist together this hormonally charged way. So the social "skills" you learn in that scenario aren't really skills, they're just coping mechanisms you develop to survive until you get into the real world where things are more balanced and normal. Nothing about social roles from high school applies to real life!

as a nerd I can strongly say she is only partially right. I loved and still love anime and video games even as an adult, but I am sick of this woke culture. I was only for it when I had a severe hormonal imbalance from birth control but that is all back in order now. it is not just a theatre kid thing or a nerd thing, it is a mentally ill thing and besides, there were a surprising number of normies who were of the popular crowd who also watched anime however they didn't wear it on their sleeve like some others in my school. She needs to get out of hs. also why would you want to lose your vcard in hs? far too young for that. that is something that is 18+ honestly.

Anime, star trek/star wars fan, book worm, techy, big time outcast, bullied/socially awkward, and abuse survivor here....... I guarantee you this woman was the head cheerleader in high school. Her life peaked in high school and just like with a jock everything went downhill after that. This is the woman whose Life Plan didn't come to fruition and now she forcefully lives her lifelong dream through her children- many dance moms can relate. She peaked in high school, she never left High School, and now she's angry that nerds are more successful than she is.

@@GrifterUno Clearly this was the only way that she could get to that point. Many, especially younger generations, are trying to get internet famous. Stiring the pot is usually how that happens- drama makes people react, and women are the best at it. I stand by what I say and even if I'm wrong, that's fine, it doesn't change the fact that she's portraying herself in such a way that's generating a lot of money for her while simultaneously slamming the same people who gave her the platform. Geeks and nerds created the technology sure, but it was jocks and cheerleaders that took advantage of it.

With the video games it is the geeky guys that liked the the attractive woman in the games because in the game they would win the sexy woman. I think that you are correct that they are trying to change the sense of reality. However, when that sense of reality is changed then no one will care who wins anymore. It is self defeating. I feel sorry for the obese girl that won because she did not win because of beautiful but it was a virtual signal. The other girls worked just as hard as her and lost. Why would you want to compete anymore when a beauty pageant is not about beauty ? beaut

So what if this is their attempt to show beauty through age? You said this is the remake, so if this is based on an older game the protagonist in the story would not still be a young warrior, she would have aged and may have even had children. So if she was this hot busty woman in her twenties she would be a fuller figured woman in her forties, so I guess they could be trying realism,and actually those games are getting closer to reality no one stays looking twenty and they especially don’t stay that way if they have spent time on the battlefield.

What? How should that work at all? Her argument is, that the "nerds" had no power in their youth and now they came into a position of power. In this position of power these "nerds" have an negative influence on her life. She wants now to take that power away from them to improve her life...why should these "nerds" should let that happen? Given they now a position of power, they would protect themselve before that could happen (obviously, because what she thinks is the solution has to have a significant negative impact on the life of these "nerds"). Based on the assumption of her argument, they have the possibility to do so.

Sure, 'bullying' is the answer. Sorry, tiktok loudmouth ... I'll side with the nerds on that one. As for the gaming ... Sweet Baby Inc. is lobbying HARD to add their ideology into gaming. Change is tough for some people but slow change is sometimes better than how quickly a certain segment of society is trying to "force" change. Not everyone can handle it and it shows. For the record ... that Perfect Dark redo is attractive ... the other pics not so much. But 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder.'
