Shorty Robbins built a civil war themed Tiny House to use during reenactments and loved it so much, she sold her big house and moved in for the ultimate off grid retirement.

Fari Wu--About 30 or so years ago, there was an interview with Lucille Ball. She liked to recline on an antique sofa (she had REAL antiques) in her home. She hung a painting sideways so that she could enjoy looking at it when she reclined on the sofa.

@@healinggrounds19 I work for NOAH, the original Tiny Home Inspection & Certification Company, and have so since 2015. I can tell you that in my experience, Tiny Homes have hidden storage just about everywhere. Just because you don't see an abundance of it hilighted during the video tour, that does not mean it doesn't exist. Some of the unconventional storage methods employed in (let's say Tiny Houses, for this example) that I have seen include but are not limited tp the following; Under-floor Storage (main floor & loft both), Some ppl build a cabinet around their 3/4 sized fridge and raise it for convenience, by putting a drawer underneath that matches the optional encapsulating cabinet. Same premise with regards to under-cabinet drawers. Also, there is undermounted Storage (primarily welded to trailer undercarriage) and Storage can also be incorporated into a 'hitch shed' or cantilevered structure added to the home,. You can also find additional storage inside of the furniture! I have even seen storage pop down from the kitchen ceiling, in-between the loft floor joists. I appreciate your expertise in total garb rate times available storage volume mass, I just wanted ppl to know that there are an infinite number of ways to incorporate additional storage into your future Tiny Home, in case you also happen to be a fan of both Tiny's and Civil War Reenactments. :)

The piano was such an important part of family gatherings, that just about most homes had one...but to think of the space they took up in the small houses of the past! This surely indicates just how highly valued they were! I LOVE THIS HOME and I am so very glad Shorty ended up living there permanently. Such a waste otherwise! This home is loved; a reflection of its owners passion and spirit. Thank you!

I thought you might be interested in my tiny house. I got it almost free as a blessing from God. It is actually a 1952 Pontiac Chief trailer. It is actually built out of wood with wood siding, a house-type roof and a tiny attic. I call it a tiny house because it really is one, cause it’s made out of wood. I painted it pale peach with dark brown trim to look like a tiny Tudor. I painted the interior pink, blue and green pastels because I had to patch the walls. It is in a trailer park, where it has been for at least 50 years. I think my tiny house is important because it is proof that a tiny house will last long enough to pass down to great grandchildren

I was so moved by this video. Not just for the uniqueness and beauty, but the style, the grace and preservation this Lady brought to every inch of her tiny (HUGE) house! I say huge because she's managed to compact and utilize every inch of her antique style with authentic and breathtaking keepsakes! I literally had tears in my eyes when she talked about the steps and how they were once her grandparents dresser and she turned 2 drawer's sideways for her closet! Every thing about this home is incredible! From the spindle posts out front, to her authentic piano bed which I had never heard of nor did we ever read about in history book's, to her lacy curtains and comfy chair, and the church window that was given to her, to that amazing sewing machine and all her genuine photos! I especially loved the portrait of her and her granddaughter! Very beautiful! I loved her laugh, her laid back attitude, her love for preservation and history and her easy going style! I'd love to meet her one day! She moved me and inspired me! Thanks for sharing! This one's a gem!! ~ Sincerely, Suzi

Such a sweet and functional tiny home! I love how she's incorporated so much authentic design within her house, and tucks the modern bits away. I met folks doing a reenactment of a NW trading camp from the civil war period at a local park on one of our rivers. The women were dressed as native Americans, (as the trappers didn't bring Caucasian women along) and one couple let us peek inside the tent at their comfy air mattress, hidden under Hudson Bay blankets and furs!

Your dining/sewing table...I've seen that in antique shops that call it a "bride's table" (folded down, two people could dine on it back in the day and, as the family grew, pulling out the side made the table large enough for a family). I've also seen it called a "gate-leg table" with a more complex support system of legs. You're lucky to have one!!

@Speaking Truth--I spotted one in an "antique" shop near my home, but at the time I didn't have enough money for it. When I went back for it, it was gone. I really shouldn't complain. I got some really nice pieces from that shop over the years. None of them are true antiques, but they are nicer than the flakeboard/particleboard pieces available in most stores today.

Welp there is nothing like the idealization and recreation of a horribly atrocious time period in America’s history to really create that warm and homey feeling in your tiny house smh 🤦🏾‍♀️ ...thanks KZbin algorithm for this suggestion!

It's educational! I don't see people all butthurt over the World War II era.

Civil War reenacting...why? What a horrible and tragic time in American history. Cute house but I couldn't get past that part.

Agree. It baffles me how much folks romanticize the Civil War. Times were indeed terrible for natives and Blacks but also for poor whites. There is so much blood in the soil from that era yet folks long for those days as if it was spirited, plentiful, and pleasant. Crazy! However, this lady is super sweet. I think she's just a cool soul living a free spirited life. No offense against her.

Agreed! Re-enacting of the Civil War sounds like nostalgia for a very suffering time. Makes no sense.

We can choose to ignore the bad eras of history or we can choose to learn from them. This era had some positive outcomes. For civilian women, while often very difficult and the loss of loved ones, it also showed the resilience of spirit and courage they found. Women often ran businesses in the absence of their husbands and did well managing them. They found empowerment in learning to take care of themselves and their families. Many early feminist reformers helped pave the way for future generations to benefit from what they learned. If we lose the history of our past, no matter how terrible, we lose a chance to enhance the future for the better, to make future generations understand that they can make a difference, be independent and make a better world.

@_in my eye I'll take that as meaning a classic liberal who believed in small government and individual rights to their personal autonomy. The classic liberal Frederic Bastiat was when he warned France against the likes of Robespierre. Progressives perverted the meaning of liberal a long time ago.
