IF I were going to raise sheep, these are the ones I would have.. because the ears make me smile

Well reading that cheers me up , as a shepherd I too keep sheep that make me proud and happy , and the value is more that what they sell for.

I feel like, especially in farming ANY animal, you NEED to have a deep love for that species/breed. Otherwise you would just get bored. So "smiles" are DEFINITELY a "must have"!

Border leicester's got to be my favorite bread. So much personality and just fun to look at. Very feisty bread. Not afraid of jumping/running through electric fences and arent afraid of stamping there feet and giving a head butt if provoked.

As I watch you shear many of these sheep breeds it makes me want to get my hands on some of those fleeces for spinning. I don't know what the laws are for you in the UK right now as to where the fleeces have to go, but you could certainly add to your income by selling some to spinners. Sure would pay better than the wool pool. I got to try small samples of a few British breeds several years ago, and would love to have a chance to try some more. (I'm in the US.) That Border Leicester looks gorgeous!

Hi! New here. I have questions! She doesn't seem to be excited about the shearing. I know it's needed, though. How many times a year do you shear a sheep? Do you have to trim their hooves? Do they bite? Do you need to give a sheep a bath? Did you grow up learning how to do this, or did you go to school?

So whats the dufference between a hogget and a hog? They arent the same thing, are they? I was sure you called some of your sheep hogs and some gimmers at lambing time, but never heard hogget before. So interesting!
