I built this shed ramp because the step up to the shed was 14 inches on one side and 18 inches on the other side. I built it with pressure treated wood, 4 x 2s and 6 x 2s.

Glad I found your video, very helpful on a couple things I was trying to figure out.

Glad that I found your video. I had a few missteps trying to figure out the correct angles for the cuts to the 4 x 2's on each end (at the ledger and where the 4 X 2 meets the paver). I used your method and it came out great.

Great video and to the point! Thanks for sharing the tips on how to figure out the angles for the top and bottom of the ramp. It was very helpful.

You didn't say a word and I understood how to better than the other ten video's I just watch. You guys with this skill and touch to build things making it look so simple have always amazed me. Job well done mate and thanks for the video, it will help me with my project.

Thanks for the Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (do a google search)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy at very last got amazing success with it.

Awesome video. I just built a ramp very similar to this and used the exact same steps. Turned out perfect. Thanks!

Great job! I can appreciate the spaced boards, but I recommend butt them up as they will shrink when the treated wood dries out. Well done...

nice work. question. did you cut the underside of the 2x4's flat so they sit flush in the hangers?
@EnglandAndy7 жыл бұрын
I scribed them to the ledger which then the 4 x 2 sat nicely in the joist hangers and thanks for the kind words

Many thanks for the helpful video. Quick question, you scribe the top bit of your board to make it flush vertically, and later you scribed to bottom bit to make it flush with the concrete block in the ground. Wouldn't the second scribe affect the height you marked earlier when you scribed it vertically? How do you strike a balance if you have a particular distance as scribing each end will affect either height or the spot where you want the ramp to end. How it makes sense...:)
@EnglandAndy7 жыл бұрын
Actually it didn't affect the top scribe it just made the ramp about 6 inches shorter which was fine because i just needed a ramp around 6-7 feet in length. I also used joist hangers so it made no difference.

Is most of the weight of the ramp on the shed because I don't see any posts as extra support? Aren't you afraid the shed's wood will crack with all the weight? I need to build one because my shed is about 18 inches high and need to know if have to add 4x 4 posts so I don't put most of the weight on the shed.
@EnglandAndy5 жыл бұрын
Nope, the shed ramp and shed are solid. No extra posts just joist hangers and bolts.

Great vid. Thanks. @8:53 how did you attach the stringer boards to the piece that goes to the shed? Did you run screws through the end grain?
@EnglandAndy5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used 2 lag bolts, overkill I know but this things going to last

Wouldn’t deck screws be better for the slats since the downward force will eventually cause the nail heads to pop up ?
@EnglandAndy3 жыл бұрын
I have stopped using deck screws on pretty much everything because when pressure treated lumber shrinks the force was breaking my deck screws.

Whats your list of materials that you used for this build?
@EnglandAndy6 жыл бұрын
The ramp only has to be the size of the mower or just a little bigger.

The end result looked good but the journey getting there was kind of painful to watch. Don't understand why he correctly used pressure treated wood for the ledger board and then used kiln dried (NOT pressured treated) for the stringers!???
