She came out and sang she song about Her young friend, the bluish eagle from steppe All about the one she dearly loved, The one whose letters she treasured and kept. Hey, a song, the song of the young girl, Fly and go after the bright Sun, Find a soldier on the distant borderlands Say hello from Katya waiting long for him. Let him remember the young and simple maiden, Let him hear the song she now sings, Let him protect his Motherland for sure, And their love Katyusha will protect.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apple blossoms and pears blossomed, Fogs floated over the river. Katusha came ashore, To the high bank on the steep. Coming out, the song started About the steppe blue eagle, About the one whom she loved, About the one whose letters were taken care of. Oh, you, song, a song of a girl, You fly behind the clear sun And a fighter on the far border From Katyusha, say hello. Let him remember the girl simple, Let him hear how she sings, Let him take care of the land, And Katyusha will save her love. Apple blossoms and pears blossomed, Fogs floated over the river. For some reason, listening to this take on the song with just a sole piano stirs more of my soul than a whole band and quire ever did. Maybe it's just the harmony between each hand and the extra flourishes that are simply impossible to coordinate between 50 people, or the dark texture and tone of the piano, but what's for sure is that the dedication put towards making this composition was immense. Thank you for this extra addition to KZbin, it really made my day.

Lyrics: (the ones that I grew up knowing) [...]- Repeats twice Apple trees and pear trees were a flower, river mist was rising all around. [Young Katyusha came strolling by the hour, on the steep banks, o'er the rocky ground] By the river bank she sang a love song, of her hero in a distant land. [Of the one she dearly loved for so long, holding tight his letter in her hand.] Oh my song, song of a maiden's true love, to my dear one travel with sun. [To the one whom Katyusha loved so, bring my greeting to him one by one.] Let him know l that I am true and faithful, let him hear the love song that I send. [Tell him as he defends our home that grateful, true Katyusha our love will defend.]

I then thought it would be great if I had a wife named Katya. It's funny but after more than 20 years I met with my "...And love Katyusha saves...": o)

For those foreigners who think Katyusha is the Communist song. Actually it isnt. Communistic isnt equal to Soviet. Soviet means rather national and cultural ( mainly russian) identity than ideological identity. Please don't mix these things, because communism didnt inspire anyone of the famous soviet songwriters of the XX century, though their songs were censored

I don't think the generalization comes from foreigners trying to discredit Russian culture but because most well-known socialist songs (socialist because that's what the song is usually about, a message, be it political or patriotic) are good- sound good to most.
