@tanya kimbeFacts💯. It's brilliant. Sometimes too many fancy amenities make you "soft" so to speak. Unfortunately t&f is not as popular here in the U.S. like in Jamaica, but many sprinters here should take note. It's not about the equipment or anything like that. It's about the quality that goes into the training. And to me, you never go wrong working with the earth. It will always make you stronger

It's not about fancy, it's about taking some of the pressure off the joint, by running on grass, rather than the track. That's how we keep injury down in Jamaica...

@tanya kimbe Facts!! Track and field is horribly underfunded in the U.S. and are not treated like the pros of other sports. I admire the way the entire country of Jamaica gets behind the sport. That goes a long way

I think the grass tracks are good for the joints and actually prevents injuries. And of course, you don't want to change something that consistently produces some of the fastest sprinters in the world.
@R20-d4t
@R20-d4t 3 жыл бұрын
@tanya kimbeAmerican Football and Track and Field are linked in the U.S.... and a lot of football players who are also good at track do drills and practice in the dirt.. in groups( as a team).. from little league all the way up until they turn pro's for those that make it...speed drills and calisthenics are done out in the field.
@R20-d4t
@R20-d4t 3 жыл бұрын
@tanya kimbe and yes we do walk barefoot in our homes and in the summer.. a lot of athletes actually do warm up drills to strengthen the feet barefoot in socks...before practice begins... a lot of distance runners run barefoot...but thats besides the point. Come up here to the North America and live in the midwest ..where there is a real winter or where it is cold 6 to 7 months out of the year.. and try walking around barefoot outside...when its below zero, on concrete.. You will be in the hospital with frost bite getting your toes amputated... or you will end up with arthritis from the cold destroying your bones.

None) There's a few elite athletes here Shelly-Ann, Shericka...& guess what: they would be elite, training on grass, dirt...in Jamaica or in Miami

They do have high end facilities.. why would you assume they dont after 1 video.. lmao.... They are training on the grass on purpose... because there is more give to the ground making the workout more difficult, while at the same time putting less strain on the body... than in comparison to practicing on a track. Also high end facilities dont matter as much with track because its so simple unlike in other sports. The difference between a higher end and lower end track is marginal.

Even if the video was today it makes no difference because even though they can train on tracks coaches sometimes take them to the beach and if it's that bad and someone think they don't have equipments then they we shouldn't lose to any jamaican with all our equipments, I follow track and I know training on sand and grass is effective

@@jeffmax2941 It helps strengthen your feet but as the season progresses athletes switch to training on the track only to help prevent shin splints.
