I love Lee, but Ben probably needs to be the only pet, and it just takes ONE person to come for beautiful Ben. Lee shouldn't have to take every dog in the PacNW. Some children go through the same at orphanages. Not being picked can be quite tough. Responsible humans seem to be in less numbers than those not responsible.

Oh this breaks my heart, I really, really hope someone adopts this old man. To live in the shelter all his life… please give him a forever home someone! Even if it’s only for a short time. Just checking the website right now. Ben's w/Forever Home Dog Rescue in WA, and I'm in MA. Although I'd be happy to make the drive this summer, there are many in my former state of CA I'd like to transport as well. So if there's someone closer in the PNW who can get to this handsome and sweet boy sooner, that's better for him. (Not sure if they adopt out-of-state anyway). It says he needs to be the only pet, but this is probably due to years of anxiety, fear, and stress. An experienced but patient adopter can help him settle down into his senior years. I adopted a 10 year old Cane Corso mastiff boy from the shelter. His owner died and the dog needed a new home. We have had him for 6 months now and he is the absolute sweetest dog you could imagine. He looks big, burly, and intimidating with his 110 pounds, but all he wants to do is to cuddle and lay in the sun. Don't be scared of adopting old dogs, people!

​@@stephanieb7311Call them. Follow up with your request. I don't think they accept every dog that people want them to take. Way if they won't, ask them about other rescues who might. This is ridiculous. Most rescuers I know have far more rescue animals than four in their house. I'm glad this person who posted this is bringing this dog story to many, but seems to me they need to work a lot harder to find another rescue group, Foster or permanent family. Long. Any one of those volunteers were people working at that shelter could have taken that dog home.

@@sylviagreve7052 I am confused about Ben and his situation, so i am sorry i am having difficulty understanding. if he is at a rescue, why does the place he is at seem more empty, cold, lonely, as a typical shelter would? And instead not have the typical resources you would see/find most rescues provide? (such as bed, blankets, cozier resting places, warmer indoor environments, better training - better behaviors with playing/tolerating/accepting other pets, being non-destructive). Again, I am so sorry I am critical, rude, and unhelpful, though I just want clarification and understanding about this, so he can get the best help he needs.

Hi, I'm the person in the video. The people in the shelter work extremely hard to take care of these dogs. Ben is actually really well taken care of. But the reality is that there's just not enough personal, time and money. The real problem is not with them but with the constant influx of dogs. People need to stop breeding their dogs and stop giving up the dogs they have

If you’re in the states & can easily get to him please volunteer to take him walkies And if you have the space & time please please please foster him or 😮adopt him. This is one story that will stay in my heart for a long time 🥺❤

Sometimes we try to volunteer at these shelters and they only want you to clean kennels. Not good!

This is heartbreaking. Seeing his kennel so cold, dirty, bare, no comforts at all...NONE makes me wish I could take him. No wonder he doesn't want to go back in. I would love to take him but unfortunately I cannot afford a big dog, well at this point any dog. My precious boy passed in Oct., he was very sick and caring for him was costly. Not to mention incredibly emotional. I hope with all my heart someone will feel for this innocent soul and save him. Provide a warm home. And be patient remembering he's had a hard life filled with anxiety and stress.

❤ I know exactly how this feels. I adopted 2 cats found as 8 week old(ish) kittens on the streets. They were placed in a shelter until I came along to bring them home. They'd lived there their whole lives. One was 11 & the other was 14. I'm happy to say they were completely loving & took to home life instantly. GOD PLEASE find a home for this wonderful dog 🐕 .🇨🇦

There are senior dog sanctuaries out there that could take him so he’d have a home environment. I adopt seniors, I wish I had known about him sooner ❤

I love Lee/Asher House-but people shouldn't put everything on Lee. Surely ONE PERSON in ALL of the PacNW will want to adopt beautiful sweet adorable Ben?! @lisabelle7553 I sent it to the Asher House, which is a sanctuary. Not to Lee himself. And I sent it to them because it's the only organization I know of that is in the pacific northwest, and can help the dog get to his forever home. It's better than not trying at all. It's up to them if they can help or not.
