I read somewhere it was budget issues as to why they never finished it. But I call bs. The second one came out about 12 or 13 years ago. I think Microsoft owns it cause it was released on the xbox. They can easily get part 3 rolling. I m not an xbox fan but I'll get xbox 1 just to get closure on shenmue.

I think they should make a gigantic remake: All three parts (the first two + the new one) as one big game on a Bluray disc, with modern graphics, more places to explore, etc. On PS4 and PC (and XBox One, if it can keep up with the required hardware specs)

This scene was perfect. Starts off as a ruse by the Mad Angels to get Ryo to do their dirty work of crippling Gui Zhang, to which Ryo, who never had any real intention of causing such harm, tried to get Gui Zhang to play along. Scolding Ryo for his naïveté, Gui Zhang taunts Ryo and tells him that Terry can’t be trusted and he would be better off “losing” to Gui Zhang. Ryo feels insulted to losing to an otherwise worthy rival and escalates the expedition by mocking Gui Zhang’s technique. To which Gui Zhang sends a resounding reminder that Ryo’s aren’t so good either to him. Ryo who seems taken aback about the appeared escalation in their fighting then asks if now Gui Zhang is taking this seriously because Ryo didn’t quite want him to, and this was his way of determining whether it was Gui Zhang refusing to play along to a ploy, or he really wanted to fight and assert dominance over an opponent. A similar reaction although riding on an opposite parallel was found in Gui Zhang’s inquiry if Ryo isn’t taking this encounter seriously despite demonstrating frustration and aggression towards him. Ryo takes this as a challenge or one that should be accepted by saying “you’re on” to which Gui Zhang replies “bring it on” to finally establish congruency between their motives and efforts and decide to go all out to the point of near exhaustion. Terry attempts to capitalize by brazenly attacking Gui Zhang with Ryo saving him. In that exact moment it temporarily settles the problem and now causes them to focus on the real on, which is to stop Terry. Amazing.
