First I'd like to thank Mr .357, Esppiral, Masterchan777, and Sappharad. I played this on an emulator (demul version 0.7) with 3x internal resolution and a widescreen hack created by Esppiral, Masterchan777, and Sappharad to give the game an "HD Remastered" look. This was the same method used for the Shenmue Remastered Movies created by Mr .357. If you guys are interested in watching the whole game in this way then I highly suggest checking out those movies. Also I was hoping to get this video done and published around the new year but using both the emulator and a capture device was a real pain for my computer until I found a much better method to record through the computer so I had to go back and redo over half the QTEs in the video. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy! This game is basically the father of Quick Time Events after all.

It's crazy how nearly 20 years ago, this type of gameplay called Quick Timer Events (yeah, they call it Timer in the game, not Time) was cutting edge and innovative. Nowadays QTEs are slowly fading away. The new God of War won't have any and the general reception of QTEs are very negative. A shame, really.

I know what you mean XD He was supposed to be a Jujitsu Protege, one that everybody see as someone with high reflex and almighty guard up! Failing simple QTE would certainly reduce that honor.

Thanks dude. I've been trying to make a Shenmue 2 video for awhile but I've been stuck at the 4 Wude part because it keeps crashing on me. Hopefully I can get it going some day.

QuickTimeFailure That sucks that the game keeps crashing. There are a lot of different QTE fails in Shenmue II than Shenmue I that are easily missable. For example certain Command QTES (mostly the Yellow Head Duck Stand QTE, Ren QTE Fight, and the Yuan Chainsaw QTE) have different fail outcomes depending on how much of the QTE is inputted correctly. Also Arm Wrestling has QTEs when stalling, and stalling on move instructions trigger Command QTES to input. Also in the original NTSC-J Japanese Dreamcast version as you are probably well aware Yuan was a man in this version, and the QTE fails with the Chainsaw originally faded out to red but were changed to fade out to white on the other versions.

Pretty much. This game didn't have a widescreen mode so what I did was use a hack to allow widescreen in an emulator (along with bumping the internal resolution by 3x). The downside is that because the game was never meant to be viewed in widescreen, you'll either see stuff that you weren't supposed to happen on the sides of the screen or a crazy amount of pop-in. Example: Go to 11:10 and check out the stairs on the right side of the screen.
