I just made this. We all ate two servings. It is incredibly satisfying and flavorful. I was going to make this for me and my vegan friends yesterday, for Thanksgiving, but ran out of time. So, I made it today. We couldn't get enough. This is gonna be my go to recipe when inviting firends for a vegan feast. I used the mashed potato recipe from minimalist baker (I had left overs from thanksgiving). But, next time I will do a no oil mashed potato.

desideratagrace That is one of the most beautiful comments I've ever received, thank you! The other 14 ways all involved to get a potato mash of a specific consistency, otherwise you'd end up with inconsistent results. The fork method however, works with every kind potato mash. I wouldn't be too worried about making this dish without the miso, as it does make a difference, but it is a pretty little one. We recently decided to shorten the length of the videos and make them a little more "snappy", as it is pointless to make long videos that nobody wants to watch. After all these are not Vlogs, but very specific tutorials. Thanks again for your comment and have a wonderful Christmas youself

If you haven't tried this recipe yet, then I suggest that you do! My aunt doesn't even like lentils but loves this recipe after I made it for her and my boys today, they are already converts to this recipe saying "they love it"! Me well I agree with our super people from the Vegan corner (best on you tube), well actually I go a little further, this easily wins in a scrap with its fatty meat equivalent by a knock down in the first mouthful!

WOW this looks amazing!! We made our version of vegan shepherd's pie on the weekend for our Italian friends... it was a hit, but yours looks so much more presentable ;) Love the idea of mixing flour with water to create a gravy texture... this would help our version as sometimes it doesn't hold together very well. And keeping the mushrooms large is a good tip... yes they do shrink when cut too small. +The Vegan Corner I made this recipe the other day and it was delicious! At first, I was a little disappointed in it because I felt that the potato topping came out a little too liquid and did not retain its form; however, I had a piece for lunch the next day and it was perfect! The flavor was so much more rich the following day and the texture of the potato topping was perfect. Next time, I am going to make it a little in advance instead of eating it right out of the oven.

+Angelo Randazzo It could be that the potatoes you used absorb less water and the topping was a bit softer, but you can aways make it perfect the next time. Recipes are not chemical mixtures, unless you use the exact same ingredients we used, so you can't always expected them to turn out exactly the same. Love how you did the texture on the mashed potatoes. I just made a Shepherds pie using soy curls. It turned out great now that I know to simmer the curls in a chicken flavored/spiced marinade til soft. I will use your fork technique next time for sure!
