This was a wonderful surprise and very much to my liking. As a huge Sailor Moon, Madoka Magika, Cardcaptor Sakura and all magical girls fan, this slipping under my radar was a huge surprise. Magical girls for the win. I love the design of the characters, and look forward to breaking down the outfits of new people yet to be introduced. Such a gem! There are actually a number of noteworthy differences between this episode and the og 80s version alone(there’s a lot more in coming eps that I’m rlly happy about)! • Catra and Adora didn’t have any sort of friendly relationship • In The og show, Adora was already Force Captain before sh Became She-Ra • At this point in time in the 80s version, Queen Angela was captured by birdlike creatures and was honestly a damsel in distress(also, she had blonde hair) • Bow was white and had an orange hair and mustache in the og series • In The 80s version, if I remember correctly, the Whispering Woods was the fortress of The Rebellion(the people fighting against the Horde). In this version tho, this is just a regular wood with only animal inhabitants These are all the ones I could come up with on the spot, but there are many more!

the show has 5 seasons and most of them are 13 episodes (although s2 and s3 are technically 13 episodes split in half so 7 and 6 episodes)! the show gets much better and more serious down the line and it’s def a favorite of mine!

I like how you view the characters as well as the fact that you don't seem to know any Spoilers about the show so you actually try to guess what's going to happen and surprised and excited by developments and character design like you were with Bow!

Based on your reaction to just this one episode, you would LOVE it by the end. Like, I'm kind of worried how into it you might get - haha No exaggeration: I think your reactions would be valuable on KZbin where everybody can see them. You had some really excellent insights right away - stuff I definitely didn't notice on just my first watch. And your take is interesting and unique to you. It's not necessarily going to be a series that draws massive views, because it's still kinda under the radar. But I actually think reactions like yours would help to grow its audience. And I 100% foresee you championing this show and getting other people to watch it, if you continue. I like to give my standard warning to people watching this series for the 1st time. First, it's four 13-episode arcs. And it's not a spoiler to say, it sticks the landing. You don't have to worry that you're going to get invested and then feel let down by the ending like a lot of other shows. This one just gets better and better. And it gets to tell a complete story. Second, when I watched it the first time, I found the characters likeable and humourous, and that kept me watching through the first 7 eps. I was enjoying it, but it was kind of "princess of the week", and felt a bit formulaic. But then ep.8 hit, and I absolutely loved that. I wondered if it was a one-off, and it would dip back down. But no. It just kept getting better. Ep.11 is one you'll hear a lot about. Just fantastic. So this is a show that is willing to take some time, establish characters and setting, move all the pieces into place, and then blast off! They do that more than once: the first half of an arc takes its time, but then the last half pays it all off brilliantly. So...I hope you watch the whole series. I hope you post all your reactions on KZbin. And most of all, I hope this becomes something you absolutely love and enjoy!

I agree, i HATED Glimmer in the first episode i thought she was going to be my least favorite but now she is one of my favorites. She gets better i promise :) She is still a little annoying sometimes but she gets great character development as the show goes on, and you start learning more about her! Same thing with Catra, i used to not be a big fan of her but now she is also one of my favorites and also gets great character development.

I like that you pointed out everyone kinda sucks. Adora is kinda dumb, Catra is toxic, Glimmer's a brat, Bow is kinda annoying. Everyone in this show has flaws and that makes them way more real... at least to me. These are stupid teenagers being annoying, but they are engaging character that have fun personalities and excellent designs and interpersonal relationships as the series progresses. Also Adora turns into an 8ft tall lady with a sword, so that's pretty neat.
