And, of course, they are blocking all comments on their Facebook page. A page whose upkeep is paid for with taxpayer money. Government Facebook pages have been deemed by the courts to be a limited public forum, to deny the public a chance to petition the Government for a redress of grievances would be a direct violation of the 1st Amendment. It would seem this Sheriff learned nothing from the lawsuit.

At least make it so that as long as they do their lawful duties, they have immunity, but the minute they break the law, they do not. And make that for prosecutors as well (and judges). If cops educated themselves on the law, they would be held accountable for their crimes. Cops have incentive to remain ignorant. If somebody could show the cop was educated on the law and should have known his actions were unlawful, the cop would be held accountable. Since it is an acceptable excuse for cops to remain ignorant of the law to give them qualified immunity, I think cops are trained to remain ignorant because it saves the cops and cities enormous amount of money. Money is priority, followed closely by giving the illusion an honourable justice system.

I was blocked from my towns police page. Because of you and others, teaching me to know my rights, I emailed the police and just asked names of people involved. He became curious why so I told him I was blocked and feel that the page is like town hall. It's on a page operated by public servants paid by tax dollars. That my rights were violated and quoted sections. I demanded I be unblocked before I push the issue further. His emails then turned less 'hi how are you' to pissy lol I was unblocked apparently before he sent his last email. Thanks for teaching me to know my rights and stand up for myself!

Just when you sign a legal contract, you are saying you understand the terms of that contract, therefore you are responsible for following through with it. Many law enforcement officers know nothing about the laws they try to enforce...they need to have some kind of re-education implemented once a year so they can remember they work for the public not to violate the public who pays for their salaries. And they need to enforce the laws not feelings or policies .

👍🏼 Exactly, been saying so for years. It costs very little to do so. Companies will require employees to understand policies and other important areas of their work by making them sit computer based training followed by a test. Passing said test will allow them to continue working. Something like this can be applied to all officers and staff in order to reduce lawsuits and taxpayer payouts.

This sheriff doesn't know the first amendment, but I bet he knows all the particulars of how to violate our rights "legally" under Civil Asset Forfeiture. He's, no doubt, one of the guys who supported Sheriff Jim Skinner's request to quash HR1525, that would have severely limited the scope and power of cops to employ Civil Asset Forfeiture (legalized armed robbery).

Not really in a deposition. In Court, the Judge would ask her to tell the Court when she believes the form of the question is objectionable. In this video her objections lack basis and would be over ruled. There is something else going on here…

What's funny about these depositions is that the officers have 3 options. 1) Tell the truth (never happens) 2) Lie (and get caught by constituents) 3) Feign ignorance (have your constituents think you're ignorant) Obviously, we'd all like to see option 1, but options 2 and 3 are equally as bad, and you should know that you're not fooling anybody.
