It actually made me genuinely angry how fucking good the art and the animation are. Like, in general, let alone for a garbage pile of a movie like that. Textures look amazing, I can feel them - I mean look at the gnome king's or whoever he's supposed to (the one who retires) hat! How it's rubbed off and worn! Movements are very smooth and fluid, well-timed, and have a very nice rhythm to them. And it's done so well and organically, that the facts that gnomes are textured like ceramics yet their clothes move like fabric don't even look clashing at all, that's insane. And the best part is character design. Literally all character design is almost exceptionally good - characters that are supposed to be different toys or objects all look unique and distinct, stylistically, texture-wise, etc. What a fucking waste of artistic skill and talent!!

The texturing is impressive, it actually does look like the gnomes are made of clay, ceramic, etc. It's kind of like how in Toy Story 3 you could actually see the faded paint, scratched plastic, etc. on the toys. 3D Animation can look amazing, it's just the writers/directors have to give a shit too.

no no Not really? For a cheap kids movie they actually put a ton of effort I to making them look like gnomes. The paint and clay texturing look great, and are chipped and weathered in a way that makes them nearly look real. And the animations are smooth and expressive It's not exactly *Disney*, but there was clearly talent and passion put into the CG. I'd honestly love to see what this crew could do, if they weren't held down by shitty writers, and their bottom-of-the-barrel concepts

You know what's sad? That whole "Watson was the culprit" twist would have been a really good twist if it had taken place as one of the original short stories. Imagine the original Watson going out of his way to create the most baffling of mysteries just to get back at Sherlock for leaving their flat a mess for the 10 millionth time! Of course, then the real plot twist would be that Sherlock knew it was Watson along and was just pretending to be fooled because he really does value Watson's friendship and decided to throw a dog a bone.

Let me tell you all a story of the cringe I had to deal with regarding this movie. I hold a job at my local theater, and Sherlock Gnomes left a stain that I will never forget. It all started in early December. The early movie poster for Sherlock Gnomes was placed inside the building. Whenever I looked to my right, I saw the image of Gnomeo with a mildly surprised face, and the captions, "This gnome is MISSING", all accompanying one great big title, "Sherlock Gnomes". God, he looked so stupid. To make it all worse, the movie itself would only be shown until around late March. This meant that I had to have the mildly surprised gnome within the corner of my eye for three months. I knew however, that this movie would be special the moment I saw the trailer. There was a certain quality to it that would also be seen in movies like The Emoji Movie, or the Bee Movie. I couldn't simply move past it as though nothing had happened. And so, I vowed that once the movie would go by, I would take the poster for myself. My coworkers agreed that I would have it. Minutes turned to hours, and hours turned to days as I waited for the movie to play, so that I can get this over with, and have the poster. Every glance at it ate away at my soul. The poster is taunting me. I'm so close to it, and yet I cannot simply take it. This love-hate relationship with the poster tormented me, but I stayed strong. As it turned out, the theater did not play the movie during late April, but instead around a month after that. Even so, I waited. The fated day came. The movie had its time in the theater, and so the poster was no longer needed for display. My manager for that day had a case in hand, a long cardboard triangular prism labeled in black marker, "Sherlock Gnomes". Inside was the poster that I vowed to keep, and keep it I shall. To this day, the poster remains untouched, within its case, in my room: A grim reminder of the torment that is necessary for a piece of meme-worthy material. But now I can declare once and for all, I am the keeper of the cringe.

When I read Romeo and Juliet in my English class (which was in America BTW), my teacher showed me some scenes from the DiCaprio film adaptation of the play rather than the "gnomed" version, along with some other videos of the play that were a bit different from what we read. Perhaps it's because Gnomeo and Juliet had too many scenes that strayed far from the plot of the original play's script (even if it's just to be more kid-friendly), such as the complete removal of the Romeo/Juliet death scene at the end of their love story.
