They found him after their release and killed him after bribing the doorman to let them inside. Sherlock pretty much figures it out immediately and needs to find a newspaper to determine their identities.

I recognized Ronald Lacey almost immediately 6:04 [Gestapo Commander Arnold Toht from Raiders of the Lost Ark, whose face famously dissolved at the end of the film]. He always had a creepy way of breathing between lines. He was swollen and bloated here because he was taking cancer drugs through much of the late 198Os. RIP Ronald.
