I don't remember all the details, but it was about the and time period, and they were actually able to refloat the ship, tow her in, and repair and finish her, and if I'm not mistaken she actually served in WWI.

The problem is not whether the ship will be recovered or not. At that time, london was one of the greatest hubs of ship and boat construction and repair. Those ships were made by investors like wealthy industrialists, politicians, dukes , lords, etc. The reputation can be damaged. Also, we see holmes was arrested after this. The part where they enter the docks reminds me of that scene from the Assassin's Creed Syndicate trailer where Jacob is chasing the Templars and they enter the factory and then he let the Rooks take over. Same kind of style I think.

That's easy, he tucked himself between the grooves. A "Slipway" allows ships to move more freely in and out of water hence the word, "Slip." Not to be confused with a "Dry-Dock" which involves flooding.

The huge guy portraying the french-speaking henchman is actually canadian. French-speaking canadian. Hence his slightly unsual pronunciation - unsual for someone used to french as it is spoken in France, that is. :-) Now, concerning Robert Downey Jr, well ... I don't know if he actually speaks french, but not being a native speaker gives him a really strong accent.
