I love Shetland. I'm a Kiwi and I lived there for a while. Gorgeous landscape, incredible light, lovely friends and neighbours, delightful hint of barmpotness. A glorious place and I miss it.

I intend to visit the Shetlands. My parents went last year and had an amazing time. We were able to trace our last name back to the very early 1700s to the Shetlands- we even found a street with the same name. I can't wait to visit.

Intriguing, rugged, and someplace I would like to see and experience. Wonderful new letters from Shetland, too. Masterpiece Mystery, "Shetland" series is great viewing.

We were lucky enough to visit Lerwick in September 2009. It is beautiful - I would encourage everyone to visit - the beauty of the Island is outmatched only by the wonderful Shetlanders (did I get that right?). Wonderful video series - brought back many memories.

I love Shetland, it's the best place in the world and I've fantasized about living there for a long time now. Someday I will live there. It's one of the best kept secrets on earth and hope it stays that way.....

very beautiful, just a shame about the weather. On similar parallels in interior Scandinavia, we top Lerwick's all-time record like 50 times/year... So which time would be the best time of the year to visit outside May-September? April maybe?

I love shetland and people who get bored and tired of its wondrous ways obviously have no respect for the history and natural landscape of shetland it is outstanding that they have managed to keep it live and natural,i do recommend the ferry ! 12 hours of a relaxing ocean and at night you may get a chance to spot some whales and seals along with other sea life,the old RAF base on unst the 3rd largest island and the most northerly point of Britain which is populated (2nd most northerly if you count muggle flucka not sure on spelling srry)the RAF base is called saxa vord and is now a holiday resort, the nature of shetland is something to carry with you on the journey of your life,

Well the views are stunning of cliffs and of the sun rises and sun sets, the northern lights leave me speechless but what i find the most important thing is, its got true beauty, the hills are small and bare yet they stick out, and the wildlife is outstanding, but then again not everyone has the same views but i think it's beautiful especially for those who want to live somewhere more peaceful

Great promotional video. Perhaps it would be more authentic with a Shetlander narrating, though I guess this is easier for non Shetlanders to understand. Still, it might give the impression Shetlanders talk with an English home counties accent (the Forewick Holm/Forvik syndrome).

I wonder what the Shetlanders would say if suddenly ca 500 000 Scandinavians, Englishmen, Germans, Frenchmen, Dutchmen, Irelanders and etc came and took over the island with the goal of creating a new last European common nation and culture.

ps: With those sheep all you can do is sell some wool and small hides. But with cattle, you can sell bigger hides, massive amount's of milk, meat, cheese, this is Agricultural Diversification! And sheep upset that delicate economic balance!
@acerb456612 жыл бұрын
If these were my island's, I'd replace all the destructive sheep with sensible cattle! Then the place would be greener like it was before the clearances.

@kramnodd9 *SHETLAND, Obviously has a better education. It has, hills, trees, lochs, castles, brochs, beaches. Maybe you should look up a place before you try and make an ignorant judgement on a place.
