Just for sharing, I'm an old man, originally, Cendol is just pandan jelly, palm sugar and coconut milk and shave ice to be taken as extra with glutinous rice (pulut) Later ins 80s red beans were added for more flavour. The Art of bargaining, for me is asking for half the original price that is being offered to you. Then slowly increase the price that you are comfortable with. Stay healthy and enjoy your time in Malaysia

That's not bamboo, it's sugarcane. It's what sugar is of made everywhere around the world of before the Germans invented a process to extract sugar from beet roots. Bamboo is hollow and does not have a juice. That juice is just raw unprocessed sugar. And yes, raw unrefined, unprocessed sugar actually have additional flavors and additional nutrition like vitamins, antioxidants etc.

The backpack you ended up buying goes for between RM25-RM39 online. Maybe slightly more in a shop. The price you paid was quite high, but to be honest, when you are a tourist shopping in a tourist trap area, expect to get fleeced 😂 sorry. On the other hand, the fake "branded" bag going for RM100 was quite reasonable. There are grades foe fake goods, and that looked like a decent grade A or so.

That cendol seller is so generous with the toppings omg that's gotta be delicious. Mouthwatering indeed 🤤 Also that kind of backpack for rm150 is expensive for sure. Definitely a rip off. You get over a hundred for such a small bag only at some high end stores. For that bag at a shop like that usually you can get between rm30-60. You did a good job rejecting that offer. The rm70 for the backpack you actually bought was a much better offer considering the design, though yes I guess you could get as low as rm50 maybe. But for a tourist attraction market, rm70 is a good price 🥰 Stephen is right btw. Melaka is a good place to visit. My hometown! Jonker Street, River Cruise, A Famosa, Pantai Klebang... Melaka's signature dish would be Assam Pedas, and definitely must try the coconut shake here. Baba Nyonya food is also awesome. It's only about 2 hours trip from KL, and cost about rm10 if you take the bus.

Very good in the bargaining part. I am from Singapore. I think come to bargain...I learnt from my Malaysian son in law....when bargain try go down to slightly more then 50%. If they say Rm100, try go down to Rm60..and see how it goes. Sometimes they purposely increase it by 100%>....me personally hates bargaining. So I always buy the one with price tag. Sometimes with price tag, I still bargain. Or shopping mall where the price is there already.

0:58 he's mistakenly said that some people called it sugarcane some people called bamboo, sugarcane in malay pronounced as TEBU which maybe he mistakenly heard as bamboo, while bamboo in malay we called it BULUH,from this we can know that he rarely communicate with malay people, not gonna blame him tho because he live near china town so malay people rarely go there except for some malay people who does business there 8:00 the cendol are made of tapioca flour mix with wheat flour if I'm not mistaken kind of the same how the made booba tea pearl and they put pandan extract squish from the real pandan leaf so no artificial ingredients here if the shop stick to the original way of making because that's how we make it at home and you deal professionally to the seller who sell fake famous brand item,i can say that their base modal for those bag are only around RM 40~RM 60,so yeah that's why local don't buy there because that place only target the foreigners who don't know anything,if you want to find cheap and worth that type of item, you can that in any night market or uptown market, just ask a local or any comments below and maybe they know where you can go to find it👍🏻

I’m pretty sure the first hawker said “tebu” which is a Malay word for sugar cane. Chendol isn’t necessarily from Penang or Melaka. It’s a regional food. You can find it all around Southeast Asia from Singapore to Indonesia to Brunei and Malaysia. The chendol place you went to is very close to this one Malay restaurant called Palmierra. They serve Malay cuisine mainly from the state of Pahang. It’s on the expensive side but their foods are amazing. I can’t stress enough how amazing the foods are. Just the opposite of the chendol place. You’re pretty good at bargaining but you need a little more ego to bring down the price. Hahaha. However, maybe because Petaling Street is a little too touristy, RM70 is pretty good. I’d honestly go for the knock off Coach for 100 (can bring the price down to 70). But the material is heavier.

As for the bag the price Rm70 on the outlook i muz say it is expensive but to be honest, in Petaling Street, even locals hardly get any lower than that. Hence u did a pretty okay job i muz say. Those locals who said u can get much2 lower than Rm70 for that item u purchased at Petaling Street dont know much about it.. but having said that u can get the same item way cheaper in a non fancy malls all over KL if u fancied in searching for them. The only plus thing i wud say for Petaling Street are those fake or duplicate Branded items that come in certain grades which u can get at surprisingly cheap price. Fyi unlike many years ago, Petaling Street is more for tourists than locals.. so too the prices.

Foreign tourists always make the mistake of going to Petaling Street and think they have bought items for a bargain. Often you need to take 50% of whatever that is quoted by the seller and then bargain from there. And 2 pandan ice-cream for RM26 is NOT worth it. Go to the nearby McD and you can get a good ice-cream for less than RM3 each.
