It's amazing how similar cults are to each other, no matter where they are and what belief system they claim to be part of. They show so many of the same marks- forced marriages, separated families, extreme limitations on basic things like food and clothing, public humiliation, physical and sexual abuse (especially of children), leaders treated like the voice of God, restricted education, members not allowed to leave, etc. The part about the mothers being instructed to kill the children if they are told that outsiders are coming to take the children away because it's better for them to die is so very much like what people were told in Jonestown before the suicide/massacre that it gave me chills. I hope governments really take this seriously. Spreading awareness about what's happening is very important. Hopefully lessons will be taken from the past and a tragedy can be avoided.

We all know stories of people who suffer in their house in our own countries and own religions (or different branches if you are in a particularly modern/liberal religion). Mendy Levy is a strong person to share his own personal struggles and even horrific experiences being formerly associated with a cult. In general, cults on the surface may seem as if they could do no harm to you or anyone else, but on the inside, it's the complete opposite. this is so true and so important to realize, yet most people judge very harshly when it is all so relative, and all depending on a million tiny factors that are impossible to assess objectively.. like personal maturity, the environment, even a little clue or realization and whenever (if ever) it hits can make the difference. People need to realize that they can never know all of these aspects and should be humble in how they judge others. Of course kind of thinking also kinda excuses the actions of those who are not victims but perpetrators, and that's the dilemma I am also facting when deciding whether to judge or how to approach someone who is causing harm but believes themselves to be in the right and even doing something good. (Specifically talking about an abusive relationship here, and it took me a whole decade to realize. Lets try and be a little objective; compare their world to our world in America. Ever wonder what the most popular online video channel in America is? It's not Netflix, it's pornography. I bet you if you compare the abortion rate, suicide rate, murder rate, divorce rate, need to see a psychologist, I'd be willing to bet their rate in this community is far better. People who tell their youngsters they can choose what sex they want to be and even allow minors to make their own decisions to take sex altering hormones? Or people who use strong discipline on the youth, encourage marriage and relationships early under the guidance of parental and religious leadership? Do you know the domestic violence rate in America, the abortion rate, the number of children born out of wedlock rate in America? Do an investigative story about these folks and compare. There is no perfect system, so give it some thought.

I explain in my public comment here about how this sort of thing can happen, and why it is important for different groups of chareidim not to isolate in this extreme way. I have many frinds from all sects, ashkenazim sefardim chassidim even chabad, eventhough they all have their way of serving Hashem, each one appreciates the other and learn from eachother even. Just look at the seforim in a standard yeshiva or beais hamidrash, we are one people. The problem is if people go their own way and cut themselves off from the rest of the jews. This is my opinion. The rabbi where i am from actually fought very hard against a child abuser and even got the non jewish courts involved based on standard halocho. The problem is when leader dont know enough torah and are scared to do the right thing in case they might be a "moser" informant. But like everything in torah and halachah there is nuance.

Recently they came in my country (in Macedonia) in the city Kumanovo .And a lot of people got scared because there were videos of them walking in all black in the middle of the night and it wasn't like a normal night walk they were walking fast .So normally people got scared every one thought they were a cult . And it turned out they were . There where some pretty creepy videos of them . They got a house to live in for a while and now they're coming to Skopje .
