I just purchased the 6'6" model for a friend who has a small reel. Hopefully we catch something with it. I have the 7' presso travel matched with an older shimano ultegra 1000. Hope I can do everything with it even though you mentioned the presso is not a good jigging rod, I hope the 4 pcs makes it a stiffer rod.

All my Shimano Curado, Compre, and Sensilite have cork problem. Do you solve the problem by sealing the cork? The rod you are reviewing is exactly what I am using. I feel like this rod has the best value among all the Shimano rods I bought, and I will only buy cheap Shimano rod because of their cork quality.

it solves the problem 100%, and I am preparing a video, but the rods cannot dry in my garage right now because it is too cold, and i don't want to bring it inside with the kids. But i see nice weather in the forecast and in the next 2 weeks i should have the video out

This is what i noticed too. When i compare with expensive rods, this one seems like a good value. But u should buy a 6'6 Shakespeare Micro light. Just for the experience. Costs as much as a sandwich.. : )

@@ifishcatfish I should've listened to your advice my friend. I actually ordered a st croix panfish series spinning rod. Right after i opened the box today, I regretted so much because the rod is so soft that it shakes like a noodle. Its action is rated as extra fast, but compare with Sensitile it is like a moderate. If you look for a panfish jigging rod, you definitely want to skip this.
@ifishcatfish5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, several subs told me to review that tod and i tried it many times at basspro but disnt like it. I like soft rods as u know but the tip is ridiculous. Then the lower half is actually too stiff. And the grip of the reel seat... i am not used to that. U should have gotten the st croix eyecon that i put on my community post- it was 40% off. Much better rod but ... not as good as the $20 shakespeare. Very pretty tho, i still like it but will be a float rod

@ifishcatfish5 жыл бұрын
I do exact same thing. I have 4 shimano stradic spools, and they are interchangeable between the different stratic models. I prefer mono for float, but fluoro for jigging, and sometimes use high viz braid too. Honestly, i don't buy cheap rods to save money - i just feel they are just as good and expensive rods are a waste of money. Thats why i have 15 ugly sticks : ). I wish I could say the same about reels though. Unfortunately cheap reels are quite different from expensive reels... particularly for round baitcasters. There is nothing good under 200. For spinning there is plenty of good reels around 100. I plan on making a video with my recommendations for tackle for different fishing methods.

Fenwick HMX is my favorite. They have a ton of models to chose from. It has expensive guides and handle. This shimano sensilite has cheap alumoxide guides but somehow still feels very nice. But the HMX looks and feels better and has great guides. Daiwa presso 6'0 will cast 1/64 jigs with the best in business, but is not the best for jigging. It wobbles a little. Daiwa Presso remains undefeated. I accept this. I love Shimano although I have to admit the nicest, smoothest reel I have is a Daiwa Luna 300 that I use for larger catfish. I did the exact thing you talked about and put a ci4+ on that sensilite rod but only because I like to try to match my reels and rods. I have Abu sets Shimano sets Shakespeare sets and even a mantis set. All I'm really missing is a Daiwa set, which I will get next. I have this strange idea that the company that makes the reel tests it on one of their own rods. Fantastic video as always I really appreciate and look forward to every video you put out! Edit- what line of Daiwa reel would you recommend for striper or bass not including round baitcasters and what one piece rod would be your favorite from Daiwa?
@ifishcatfish5 жыл бұрын
i can recommend Daiwa Presso 7'6 with Daiwa Legalis 2500D (lower gear ratio) or Daiwa Theory JDM (with 4.9 gear ratio). That would be an amazing panfish combo that will put the biggest smile your face has ever had : ) As for stripers.. this is hard to answer because the stripers really vary in weight. Daiwa Actually doesn't have good reels for bass under 200$. All the LT reels have very soft frame which is fine for crappie but not for stripers. around 200 the Theory 4000 would be very nice. I don't like the ballistic or the tatula as they have too much internal resistance. Shimano has better reels for bass and striper, because even the $70 Sahara is amazing. All stradics are amazing as well. As for daiwa rod, i really liked how flexy the Daiwa Saltist Inshore is, the Medium Light one 7'. That said i don't recommend you spend money on a Saltist + Theory 4000. It is a good setup but nothing to love and not worth the money. I want to know that people would absolutely love my recommendation if they spend that kind of money. But the Presso 7'6 + 2500 Legalis D - that one i guarantee will amaze you : )

@ifishcatfish5 жыл бұрын
All of the jigging you described is kind of the same. You need a rod where u can control the tip better, so u can jerk the lure and entice the fish. Also jigging rods are more sensitive because have stiffer mid section. The Shakespeare Micro has light and ultra light. Make sure u see what you are buying. The Light power might be OK for casting small spoons. Nothing big though. It is a Light power... The Ultra lights will be too soft.
