Good review. Seems like a good reel. I use a Fox Rage Warrior 2500 reel which is about the same as the Daiwa Ninja.

the only slightly negative thing about the newer Shimano reels is that the handle tightens and loosens using the handle which means if you like backwinding then the handle can come off the reel if you're not careful

This model of the Vanford can’t reel backwards at all, so shouldn’t be an issue hopefully , I get what you’re saying though, it’s a different design than normal 🎣

Those ninjas are good spinning reels for pike also, size 3000/4000 will do

The ninja reels are absolutely brilliant 💪 this is just something to test out for the new season, we will see how good it is in a few months after some fishing pressure 🫡

You should try a Owner Kizuna braid pe if you can find some. The Vanford is a good reel but I like the Stradic more for the gear ratio at 5.1:1.

Do you like the owner braid? Good stuff, I like the faster ratio for spinning twitchbaits for trout, constantly winding! Stradic is a nice reel, have tried it also.

​@@senanstanleyfishing In my experience Owner kizuna is very smooth and the diameter actually matches what's on the box. Don't really get to fish for trout that much here, they managed to kill the natural populations when everything was industrializing so I usually go for perch and zander (and pike but they are everywhere)

@@Temerio I like j-braid grand ... its cheap and has good strenght... not too thick either.. im not paying 40 euro for a spool.. (like daiwa tournament braid). There is so many brands of braid out there.. hard to weed though it.

Have you tried a shimano stradic , silky smooth very light similar price range, I’d be interested to hear your comparison on both reels , lve not had a vanford yet but looks great love to try it out sometime

I think the new Vanford is supposed to be the upgraded model of the stradic Colin, both are fantastic reels, been using the Vanford 1000 on the river and the 2500 on the Lough the last two weeks, wow, absolutely amazing to fish with. Shimano are just the absolute best.

I use braid for all my trout lure fishing, 0.08 and 0.10mm is fine

I just broke a old ballistic last week.. i was stuck underwater pulled a bit now u can turn the handle but the ree doesnt wind anymore... do like my vanford and stradic reels.. im team shimano! For the price the cheaper daiwas are decent though.
