Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance Shiva (LOW LEVEL, NO CHEESE)

Well I changed my mind and got yet another SMTVV Superboss clear for you guys. I wasn't planning on this but Shiva proved to be more of a pain than on my first playthrough (which I also did at level 80)
First, I highly recommend watching Bucketgetter's Shiva video because the description and comments are the basis for what the community knows about the fight. But the basics are Shiva has 2 attack stances. His normal attack where he cycles through Akashic Arts, Hades Blast, Maragibarion and Maziobarion. And an Almighty Stance where he spams Megidolaon, Impaler's Animus boosted versions of his Stance 1 attacks, and uses Tandava about every 3 turns or so. However he only goes into his Almighty stance if he detects someone nulls an attack (with the exception of Kali and Dakini's Ailments and nulling Parvati's Mahamaon innately). If you resist everything he does, he'll never go into his Almighty stance... Or so I thought.
IDK if this is a change Vengeance made or if it was always a thing and I never noticed but apparently applying a dampener on his Magatsuhi turn causes him to go into his Almighty stance??? So yeah, that made the fight fun.
As for the strat, the three demons I used were Namaah, Agrat (my Beloved) and huang long gaming.
Namaah was my main buffer/debuffer and also used Mudobarion whenever Ananta shows up (BTW, kill Ananta ASAP, especially since Shiva seems to summon him a lot sooner now).
HLG was my main healer with Mediarama (which you should use because Mediarahan costs way too much)
And Agrat was my secondary attacker. Although this is one time you want Bufubarion instead of Queen's Decree because it's random target and can very easily kill the other ads, which is a no go.
Finally my MC is a Magic Build since I did STR for my original runs. Bufubarion is here for Shiva and Zandyne is here for Ananta (dyne is used over barion for slight MP conservation, even though I didn't need it). Also Evergreen Dance is great for charging Magatsuhi faster.
Some final notes
1. Fountain of Chaos is sometimes used to rob Shiva of one of his turns. This is great for delaying the ads after the first Tandava.
2. Sakuya has an innate fire repel and Nahobeeho has innate elec null.
Demi Fiend will be my next and final superboss and I have something special planned for him. But before that, my first scripted VV video will be out soon so please look forward to what I have in store!

I'm trying to do this myself and gotten him to 1/4 HP, but I'm so glad doing this at 80 (minimum level) is viable now. In the original you would get clapped in 1-2 turns regardless of your buffs and debuffs. Fixing the level scaling was a great change that I still am realizing the full ramifications of. It did make that one "troll" Abscess a bit less troll-y, but it can still take you by surprise if you aren't ready for it.

Love seeing another fellow agrat enjoyer, great vid definitely will say there were some mistakes u made towards the beginning that could’ve potentially made the fight go a bit quicker by like a turn or two(i.e using sode instead of shower when nam and hlg had aliment up and vise versa for mc) but overall great vid man

@@tamamono-mae3853 yeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I often don’t think about items when going into bosses and I only had 1 Shower left (which I did use) 😭😭😭😭 Plus honestly what I should have done was have Nahobeeho out turn 1 to get as much damage as I could with Jack Tempest then swap him out for Namaah turn 2.

@@jaffinator2166damage scaling for level differences in OG much higher. I saw how guy beat Shiva on 80 lvl. The battle lasted 2 hours) The game has become more complex. Added many different options for building a strategy, but became much easier) And yeah, that’s more enjoyable now)

@@rift3487 I think you’re referring to Strategize and yeah that’s banned. As for Charge and Omnipotent Succession, those two are allowed as only two demons I’m using will have Charge and Succession will be vital in killing DF Demons quickly with my strategy

Personally beat him 1 level above you but my team was MC to spam Kanabi Veil and Evergreen Dance, Cu Chulainn with Double Force Pleromas, Critical Zealot, double restores, enduring soul and Gae Bolg, support Alilat with Donum Gladi, null passives, energy drain and debilitate, and Konohana Sakuya with double heal pleroma, boon boost and her main skill (plus energy drain). Backline had a scathach for the magatsuhi skill with Cu.

@@SilviaHellsing Gae Bolg doesnt miss, as in its one of the 255 accuracy coded attacks, so thats not suprising. Also yeah, Cu/Scathatch teams are fun and solid. My personal favorite teams are herald comps, they let you spam gauge skills a LOT, fun stuff.

I remember watching the BuffMaister streams live of him doing this in vanilla V taking him literal days of time. Removal of the brutal level scaling is legit the best thing about Vengeance imo.

Context for those unfamiliar: Vanilla V's level scaling was so aggressive that of the enemy was ~5 levels over you, you basically did chip damage and took excessive damage. The opposite was true too. If you were, again, ~5 levels over an enemy, they basically couldn't touch you.

@@VentraI and I definitely think it’s telling that other attempts at this are a similar length to this video. Whereas Bucketgetter’s successful attempt was 2 hours long, Zakai’s I believe was over an hour.

@@noone-zh1zo it’s the lowest you can possibly fight him. The portal blocks you if you try to go lower. And by comparison, he’s level 96

It also helps that due to the way SMT 5 is coded, if an enemy is higher level than you, it's not just doing more damage to you based on their higher stats... But the level is taken into account as well. Adversely, if you were, say, Level 99, you'd be taking significantly less damage in comparison not just because of your higher defense and Vitality, but also your level as well.
