This is far and away one of my favourite songs in Brawl's entire soundtrack and I'm really happy I know where it comes from now. Also: Quick Fact: The composer for this remix was Masafumi Takada, who also worked the soundtrack for games like God Hand, No More Heroes and Kid Icarus Uprising, to name a few.

i never noticed how different the original version of this song was from the brawl version. when compared to the original version, the brawl version sounds more like a song from f-zero, starfox, pokemon, metroid, or a song made specifically for the super smash bros franchise.

Funny how the remix doesn't seem to be very close to the mood of the source material at all. XP Shin Inigashima looks really interesting. I wonder if someone's done a fan translation? It might be fun to play sometime...

I probably can answer some of your questions, mainly about things that appear in folklore. First of all is the term Onigashima, I believe it first appeared in the story of Momotaro, which as the name implies, it's full of oni, thought I don't know what role it plays here in the game. Second is the term Ryuuguu, which also came from a folktale, though I don't know the name of the tale, I only know that the main character's name is Urashima Taro.

Third, which is the treasure boat someone mentioned, is also from a folklore, the Shichifukujin(七福神), or the "seven lucky gods", it is said that they ride the treasure boat whenever they came down from the heavens or something I'm not sure. Last is the 5:43 part about the clothes, I think she means "I'll take care of your clothes and stuff", since Gonbe IS going under water. I don't know if you already know some of these, but since you didn't explain, I assume you don't know.

OK, so they have included nods to this game in Melee and Brawl, Kirby's Dreamland 3 and Captain Rainbow... I can only think somebody in the company has a superlative fondness for those games.

Nintendo needs to take the characters from this game as well Yuyuki and make an RPG starring them as some Rise of the Guardians type group. Sadly that will never happen, will it? (For those wondering what Yuyuki is, it's the other Famicom Disk System Fairytale game Nintendo made in the same style as this game. It's basically their parody of Journey to the West. Yes even Nintendo has version of that story)
