The actual best method for doing pushups , (which is extremely similar to the systema push ups) especially the majority of the push ups you do, is in the same manner that qi gong exercises and tai chi movements are done, extremely slow as humanly possible to the point you are basically doing the movement with your breath not muscular force. Siu nim tao (the first wing Chun form) roughly means use no force.
But yes the ideal would be for it to take 30 seconds -1min for you to go down, some also hold it there another minute, then another minute to go back up. So roughly like 2mins for each push up, do 5-10 a day in that way and see the results you get
