I'm showing you how to clean a crystal chandelier with sparkle plenty today. Many of us hate this (annual) task and let our lighting fixtures go too long without a thorough cleaning. My product review and how-to video are going to help you through the arduous process of cleaning a complex light fixture. What is the best part about the whole job?
I'M NOT TAKING A SINGLE CRYSTAL OFF THE CHANDELIER!
My foyer chandelier is up two stories high and isn't easy to reach. I do have the benefit of owning a ten foot step ladder but it's hardly tall enough to reach the very top of the fixture. Fortunately, I have a trick up my sleeve to reach the very top and I'm sharing it with you today. However, you don't need to have a hard-to-reach chandelier to benefit from using Sparkle Plenty chandelier cleaner. It's even easier to use this product if you are able to reach your light fixture from the floor.
If you clean a crystal chandelier with Sparkle Plenty, will it work?
You will have to view the before and after to make up your own mind. I can clean crystal chandeliers by taking the crystals off and wiping them down one at a time or I can use Sparkle Plenty. Which method does the best job? You need to view the video until the end and see how it goes. I believe there is a fine line between effort and reward with every project. Will Sparkle Plenty lead to perfection? Will it lead to 'perfect enough' or will it lead to a giant streaky mess? I'm willing to throw $25.00 at this cleaning project to see if I can save some time with Sparkle Plenty. Sometimes it worth the cost of a product if it saves you valuable time. Let's see how I do...

It does work, but you'll need at least two heavy applications. I work in a large theater, we do this cleaning about twice each year. It's important to be sure the lights are turned off. Also, a finishing spray of distilled water tends to make the crystals cloudy with this product. Pro tip: use a kid's swimming pool and plastic drop cloth underneath to make it easy to clean up.

When I use it, I follow it up with a spray rinse of distilled water. That really fixes any residue that the product may leave.

I have vertigo no way could I attempt this, but as far as clean it looked really well from what it started out as. My doublewide home has nothing like this, never will. What a beautiful home. Go0od luck in your ventures.

Nancy, I'm happy with the results because I don't think it was cleaned for over 16 years. I'll try to keep it up a little better than that over time 😜 I really don't wish this job on anyone but this product makes it a bit easier to manage. One story living is the way to go so you're lucky you don't have to deal with this kind of work! For $13 Harbor Freight has 1 gallon pressurized canisters with applicators that you can wear on a sling... I have a few different ones labeled... one is for heated water and oxy clean, another has hot water and dawn (hot soapy water), one has pure distilled water for rinsing... I've grown to hate any traditional spray bottles because they always seem to fail or be empty at the worst possible times.

Hagerty the silver polish people have a similar product. Don't know if their product is any better. I usually just use a diluted ammonia and water mixture. A pal of mine used a diluted rubbing alcohol water mix and another friend uses white vinegar and water. Of course there all sprayed on and drip to dry.

I like the fresh smell of Sparkle Plenty but will try the ammonia version next time. It may help to cut through the remaining oily film (very slight, but still there). Thanks for sharing! Alcohol will take off finishes... ask me how I know. I'm not sure if would be compatible with the silver plate. I saw someone say that they used the Hagerty stuff and saw zero difference, but who knows if they followed the instructions.

Hi, Never done this before. I have 6 number of chandelier at home. I thought spraying should be from top to bottom. Why do you think it is not the correct way? Thanks Renee

Hi Marco, Excellent question! I try to get the dirt off the bottom first so that the dirt on top is able to slide all the way off easier. It seems to make a difference on my chandelier - especially because of its design. I literally have crystal pieces stacked one on top of the other and I don't want all the dirt clinging to the very bottom of the chandelier and not being able to slide off easily. Toy and Music chanelTV, Thank you! Unfortunately, Sparkle Plenty doesn't come in a can. It needs to go on heavily so the spray bottle works best. This will work on all your cloudy crystals and make opaque crystals gleam on the surface. I hope this helps! What bout the lamps? I have 15 lamps on mine in side crystal lamp so scear if they damage if they get wet?

Hi Alina, The lamps are fine to get wet as long as you wait a full 24 hours before you turn the light fixture back on. If you don't wait, you could burn all the light bulbs out. I usually put a piece of tape over the switch(s) until it's dry. Thanks for the great question! All the best, Renee

If the lamps are hanging down below their sockets, no problem! It won't get in the sockets and it'll just run off. Otherwise Mrs. Romeo is right about waiting.

Colsome miah, I put Sparkle Plenty in a spray bottle and turned it on 'stream'. This shoots it pretty far. My ceiling height is 22 feet. If you only have a one story area, you'll be fine. All the best, Renee

Renee Romeo: Mega thanxxx: have to get Sparkle on line: no one has it. Thrilled at hearing spray length. Meanwhile, called 6'4 friend to get on ladder and spray Mixture of Power (blue) Dawn and hot water in new spray bottle.While waiting, since it was raining and just looking at these white opaline glass bulbs made me crazy I got a bamboo stick, fixed a rag around it padded with other rags to make a ball, rubber banded it on the stick, got on a stool (5'6), prayed to not hit other globes and gently WIPED SURFACE GREASE/DUST OFF!!!! How cool is that: won't need a thorough till I get Sparkle: told friend not to come...looks acceptably clean
