Brandon YOU are not alone my friend. I am in the end of a 21 year marriage that she just seems to not care about. She wants it, but doesn't want to put fourth the EFFORT. I have had enough of being the lover, the do everything, the make the effort and I am leaving. It's heart breaking 💔 to know someone you still love doesn't care! I think about her constantly and my mountain bike is my outlet and it loves going and never argues. Hang tough and find outlets for happiness. Start doing things more for you and start new friends. We are together ❤

I'm sorry for your loss 🙁😢 I needed to hear your story I'm battling addiction and suffering from depression and I fight back and get back to my feet and I let the devil slide back in with the shame of my past and all ground gained I let the devil win argument is created for nothing fabricated and grab a drink of alcohol and then my meth and inflict my pain all over again on my family from 5yrs of recovery back to this so for 4yrs they have been put up with this Some how this voice says end your life it's the only way out but Gods voice is louder and when I read your comment I'm sure your husband would probably most definitely choose to live and be here with you! God Bless you with your loss I'll choose to fight tell my last breath ❤🙏🏻

I remember being 18 years old and being upset with my parents and finally getting ready to get out of the house for good. And I would listen to this song on repeat upon leaving for the Army. This song made me sad, angry, hurt and scared all at once. I was off on my own, to a whole new world and all by myself. It was liberating and terrifying at the same time. But when I came back from my first deployment and listened to this song again, it gave me a new found appreciation for my family, home, and specifically my relationship with my parents. Sometimes goodbye is a second chance, and in my case, it was a second chance.

My eyes are open wide By the way I made it through the day I watch the world outside By the way I'm leaving out today I just saw Hayley's comet, she waved Said "why you always running in place? Even the man in the moon disappeared Somewhere in the stratosphere" Tell my mother Tell my father I've done the best I can To make them realize This is my life I hope they understand I'm not angry, I'm just saying Sometimes goodbye is a second chance Please don't cry one tear for me I'm not afraid Of what I have to say This is my one and only voice, so listen close It's only for today I just saw Hayley's comet, she waved Said "why you always running in place? Even the man in the moon disappeared Somewhere in the stratosphere" Tell my mother Tell my father I've done the best I can To make them realize This is my life I hope they understand I'm not angry, I'm just saying Sometimes goodbye is a second chance Here's my chance This is my chance Tell my mother Tell my father I've done the best I can To make them realize This is my life I hope they understand I'm not angry, I'm just saying Sometimes goodbye is a second chance Sometimes goodbye is a second chance Sometimes goodbye is a second chance

I left home a year ago, age 33, because my family were overly dependent on me and I couldn’t bare to leave them. When I left, my died of undiagnosed liver cancer that he just soldiered on with. My mom contracted dementia 2 months ago after going to the hospital for her diabetes (ketosisacidosis). My sister quit school due to bullying and anxiety depression (agoraphobia) When mom hit the hospital I drove home immediately, as we learned that she has the heavy onset of dementia I stayed the 2 months, then left. Again. I notified social services of people in the home, professionals, and an amazing doctor that specializes in this stuff... and I left, scared that if I stayed any longer I’d be stuck forever. Again. I hear you, man. The lyrics hit hard, real hard.

I've known since i was 14 when i first heard this song that goodbye would be my second chance. i finally said goodbye when i was 30 and got to hear this song live for the first time a few months after. they were right, it was my second chance at life and I'm living it to the fullest. I'm not just quoting lyrics when i say this band saved my life not once, but twice. I'm so grateful i got to see them live and that Brent saw my sign stating the above. i wouldn't still be alive without them encouraging me to hold on just a little bit longer. I'm finally free from the abuse and happier than ever ❤

Gia Ferrara DVM ...I can relate ! The psychological/verbal abuse slowly erodes any self esteem you may have ! Then you realize that she is the one who is an "empty shell" filled with jealousy , and the need to fill that hole in her soul with useless material goods because she lacks substance ! It is not you....do not take it personally ! I know it can hurt, and it is a loss that may need to be grieved ! If she a NARC there is no fixing that ! Remove yourself from the situation + find peace ! Good luck !

Mauro Pacitto ...I would agree ! Sometimes it takes a long time to realize the insurmountable damage done by a psychopath and others ! My problems started with my foster mother when I 4...that was 4 decades ago !! It has been a horrible ! You are correct when you state that the victim is worth 100% ! They just need to realize their worth...despite the fact that someone has tried to erode it for a long period of time !

I love the subtle foreshadowing for what she's going to do. In the first scene with her working with the fish at the docks, there are two boats shown, one named Rebel, the other named Amanda. Like the universe itself is telling her what she should do.

This song came out when I was in the Marines...we had just lost a very close friend and fellow Marine to suicide in the barracks the night our unit got back from Afghanistan and this song would just constantly play everywhere we went around the time of his death so everything I hear this song it reminds me of that day we found out.

when you relate to the song it just hits different. I grew up with strained/absent relationships with both of my parents. struggled with my mental health for well over a decade and pondered self-deletion multiple times. I couldn't depend on either of them mentally, emotionally, or financially. I had and still have to crawl when many my age can walk and even run, so to speak. I've taken steps to better myself and finally came to terms with the fact that nobody will feel bad for me so i shouldn't keep feeling bad for myself. I landed this new tech job and I'm starting therapy very soon. I will prove my mom wrong. I'll prove to her and my dad that I am not a failure. I pray we are all alive by the time i reach true success, God willing.

I love this song. Sometimes you need separation to improve your relationships. Feel this with Family, and Friends turned roommates. It's such a shame, because there is so much love, somehow corrupted by frustration. But with that space, you grow an understanding of yourself, and a deeper appreciation of those connections. ❤

....Understanding who God is and what He has done for us only comes in knowing who you truly are and your need for a savior. Do You Want to Go to Heaven? forwhatsaiththescriptures.org/do-you-want-to-go-to-heaven/ The Bible declares, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 KJV). Because of sin, none of us can pay the price to enter heaven. Regardless of how many “good” works we do, we are still sinners by birth, unable to merit God’s favor. We have come short of God’s righteous standards. Thus, in order to enter heaven, we need God’s righteousness. The good news is that, through the finished crosswork of Jesus Christ on Calvary, we can be made “the righteousness of God in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV). We can receive God’s righteousness as a free gift! We can receive eternal salvation from our sins! “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV). “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23 KJV). “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1 KJV). “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 KJV). “In whom [Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7 KJV). “In whom [Christ] we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14 KJV). “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV). “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5 KJV). “What must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30,31 KJV). Salvation = Faith + Nothing. It is free to you because Jesus Christ paid the price. Do you believe that? Have you fully trusted in that alone for salvation? Jesus Christ (God manifested in human flesh), in His great love, grace, and mercy, paid the penalty for our sins. The Gospel of the Grace of God which saves lost mankind is: “Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again the third day” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV). The Lord Jesus Christ shed His sinless blood to forgive us our sins, but the Bible declares that anyone who rejects the Gospel of Grace will have to pay for his or her sins in the lake of fire for all eternity. When you trust exclusively in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, Jesus Christ’s righteousness will be applied to you. Jesus Christ is perfect, so His righteousness imputed to us is our only means of getting into heaven. Will you trust in Christ Jesus alone as your personal Saviour? I hope you will accept God’s offer today! forwhatsaiththescriptures.wordpress.com/ At this link at the top of the page their is a master list of questions, click and learn how amazing the Lord and His word is....

I was told at 22 that I'd never have kids. We still tried for years, with no luck. Eventually just told ourselves if it happens, it happens. My daughter is now almost 3, and another one on the way, due in about 6 months. When I first found out that we were going to have a baby, my whole life flipped upside down in the best way possible. I swore to myself I'd break that generational trauma that I went through. I'd never let my kids feel the way I do. I'd never let them go through the things I did. So far, I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job. I have my bad days, but that's when songs like these come into play and help me through. One day I hope I'll get to see them live.

As the person being drug down by parents and step parents it takes alot to take the punishment and make it seem like nothing's going on to you significant other. It sucks but once you turn 18 ain't shit they can do. Every morning I tell myself do it for her, take all of the punishment, they may cruch my body but not my dreams. Your dreams are yours and it's yours to decide when to throw in the towel. And yes people will abuse you over them but it only proves how strong your desire for that dream is

I can relate with this video strongly, because my stupid parents back in the late 80s never tried to support me on anything I was interested in doing. If it wasn't what they had envisioned me doing with my life, well then I got a big Ole FU Charlie. So just after graduation I moved out and have been out of touch with them since the early 90s. Never been better off than being without the toxicity of their presence in my life. Now I'm 52, have a wife and 3 children, 2 are already grown ups and left on good terms because we supported them in their choices, good or bad. Parents are supposed to love unconditionally and completely, not just when it suits them. To anyone out there going through this type of situation with parents, just don't ever give up on YOU. You be yourself and follow your own dreams, not what your parents dreamed up for you. If they don't like it, well then they're not good parents and they can go pound salt.

All kids of the same family are different. All we can do is help them along and train them in right and wrong and find what their God given gifts and potentials and help them pursue. Trying to force or put pressure on a child to follow in your footsteps as you found your gift is wrong and damaging to the relationship and success of the youth.

I remember listening to this song when it first came out, it gave me the strength to leave where I wasn't even loved or appreciated so I left, I think this song portrays to people, that if your in a situation where you feel stuck and cannot grow, why the heck even stay, if your family just wants you stuck and can't be successful, you should be allowed to leave. because of this song, I bettered myself and my life. I think people are getting themselves confused thinking it is a suicide song when it is not even describing that in the music video. the song is saying and the video, is that, if your not being appreciated and your loved one's want you stuck, you should be allowed to leave them. it is saying sometimes the right choice isn't as easy as you think, but it takes guts to go ahead and do it.

This is one of the greatest rock songs ever written. It's the story of my like. I started playing the drums when I was 12. My mother hated it which lead to verbal, emotional, and some times physical abuse. A parent should never step on a child"s dreams! I'm 66 now and it still haunts me!

Shout out to all who is battling depression and just remember you guys are alone in your battle. Like me and there’s many others battling the same fight you are fighting. Just keep in mind you aren’t and have never been alone this whole time. Let’s all thank Shinedown for writing such meaningful and relatable music over the years. Also helping us through this battle with depression and coming out stronger then we have ever been before🙏

Sam Wheeler We may all be fighting our own battles and yes they are very different in many ways. But that deep dark aloneness feeling is the part where your not alone in. Many of us are fighting in different ways but still share that same pain in the long run. Just keep fighting don’t given give in to the darkness and stay strong.

Brent Smith's voice is great. This song was ahead of it's time, listening to it again after so many yrs. Being a parent now of grown young adults, I've realized we don't own anyone. Everyone placed in our lives is truly a gift. We do our best to love/support r kids. If they/or 1 leave & choose 2 "ghost us" all we can do as parents is pray 4 their safety, well being, & that they need to find their path & will be back in r lives.

"Tell my mother, tell my father. I've done the best I can, to make them realize this is my life, and I hope they understand. I'm not angry, I just saying, sometimes goodbye is a second chance." This line hits me hard even now in 2023. Love this song man, great job Shinedown! Every time this song is played, I shed tears as I can relate to this song so much that I cannot put it into words to describe it.

So when I was 17 years old, I got sick and tired of my narcissistic father and mediating and enabling mother and ran away from home, right after a conversation I had with my mother. And I even ripped my favorite pants lol But this song I played repeatedly after I left and started staying at a friend's place. And this song is right. Sometimes you just gotta run. Just run and don't look back till you are ready to, cause life is short but not worth ignoring your dreams and goals. Do what you need to even if you are scared cause sometimes that's the only way. ❤❤
