Jjongs voice is an instrument. 😍 Shawols are very peaceful and really prioritize the boys' space thats why shinee are not afraid to get close talk to them. There are videos where you can see that they dont even need a bodyguard. Theres even an airport video where they race shawols to cross the road and you can hear Keyin the fancam laughing at them, a shawol acted like a bodyguard so no one will get close to a member, or when jinki got lost in the airport so shawols guide him back to the other member. As minho says "a fandom mirrors the artist and the artist mirrors the fandom." Just makes you proud. ❤

"Selene 6.23 " is another one of the dozens of songs that was written by Jonghyun and it has now become a song that the members often sing as a tribute to him. It's songs like this that demonstrates just how good Jonghyun was as a songwriter and why SHINee are some of the best in the industry when it comes to vocals. :D Selene means moon in Greek and 6.23 (2013) was when we had a supermoon, which means the moon was really close to the Earth that day, making it appear extra big and bright. If you look up the lyrics, the song has a lot of deep meaning. Jonghyun really loved the moon. He saw a lot of beauty and symbolism in the moon and often talking about the moon in interviews and conversations. The song is about an unrequited love that no matter how much time we spend together and how well we get to know each other, you are still out of reach just like the Moon. The moon shines down on us and it's been there our entire lives, and yet it still is miles away and remains out of reach. The other members of SHINee have also said another interpretation of the song could be how the distance between the Moon and Earth was similar to the distance between SHINee and their fans all over the world. In other words, we are miles away from each other and yet really close/dependant on each other, just like the Moon and Earth. The alternate title of the song is "The Distance Between Us," which has now taken on even more meaning since Jonghyun's passing. (We now interpret the lyrics to be talking about the distance between us here on Earth and Jonghyun in Heaven.) It was even said that the moon turned a pearl aqua color -- SHINee's fan color -- the day of Jonghyun's funeral. And fans took comfort in the fact that this meant that his spirit had made it to Heaven and that he was now at peace. And just think, Minho and Key are rappers. That's how outstanding of vocalists SHINee are. Even the rappers can outshine most vocalists in the industry. :D That's why SHINee are so highly respected by absolutely everyone in the industry. There is no one like them in this world and there will never be a group quite like them ever again. ;) I would recommend instead of these M Countdown comeback stage performances that are more likely to get copyright blocks, what you should react to are SHINee's SHINee World Concert performances. SHINee have performed almost all of their songs in concert and you can find clips of their performances of almost all of their songs or even whole concerts on YT. Concert performances are far less likely to give you copyright issues. It's best if you avoid MNet content all together, which is the network TV company that produces the music show M Countdown. MNet is super strict about how their content is used and they are the TV network out of all the Korean TV networks that is most likely to cause copyright issues. I know several YT channels that have been removed without warning because they did too many reactions to comeback stage performances. Just something to be careful of.

I think one reason why shinee vocals work so incomparably exponentially well as a unit despite them having such beautiful voices individually is that they treated their shinee vocals as one entity with five parts, no competition just completion. Late to the party, thanks to a raging fever and throat infection, but super super happy to see your shinee reaction. has anyone mentioned the mic stand incident in dream girl? They were filming a stage and Minho broke his. The adroitness with which the hyungs handled clearing the broken pieces and Jonghyun improvs on the fly by giving his to Minho and then just showboating in the centre like that was the plan all along? Even Taemin didn’t realise it and for once we didn’t blame him because because even the director and camera guys didn’t catch it and let the episode air instead of reshooting. and yes, shinee doesn’t just do harmonies, they do voice blends what a flex! I love why so serious, it’s their take on warm bodies, the rock vibes warm my old rock heart. the sherlock era was a double blessing for me, because the song was a combo of clue and note, I suppose sherlock was unavoidable but the tumblr tags back then was hilarious, because that was also when Cumberbatch’s sherlock was super popular

As a testament to how Shinee are trendsetter in South Korea: Everybody brought dubstep into kpop/mainstream kmusic and then View brought house. You could also say that Replay did the same with R&B. KPop itself has eras where you can clearly hear many songs with a similar vibe released in a 1-2 years period and then go on to the next year and you hear a distinctive shift in the mainstream music released then. Shinee played a big part in influencing music trends. Also for the Sherlock outro: it was basically a revelation for the viewers. They found a news article from decades ago about a hidden jewel and that was basically what prompted Shinee to go on an investigation - and also why they weren't freaking out more about seemingly being followed by a possible ghost.

the misconceptions album is absolutely a masterpiece if you haven't listened to it in full. i'll always regret that i didn't become a fan way back when to enjoy 2013 because that was their busiest and biggest year. just, everything. the amount of songs and performances they did to top off with a daesang. forever a regret. if you haven't seen their dream girl performance where they flawlessly show off their teamwork to get around a broken mic stand, you should check it out! only taemin wasn't in on it but all the others helped the performance run smoothly without skipping a beat! PS: you have to watch the dance practice for Everybody! the MV doesn't even do the choreo justice, but if you watch the practice you get to see the entire routine much clearer and it's also really cute with the intro!

Fun fact: The choreography for SHINee's "Why So Serious?" is actually known as the zombie dance. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics you will see the song is a sort of zombie love story about being brought back to life by love. Because you appreciate their dancing, you should check out a video where SHINee does a tutorial and breaks down the choreography and teaches you the moves for "Why so Serious?", kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5iQm6ymbch4jck. And you also should check out both dance practices: This is the version with 4 members, kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6valoiZZpicl9E, and here is the version with all 5 of them, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHKsfamempp6hNU. (Right before their "Why So Serious?" comeback Jonghyun was in a car accident and he broke his nose. His face was all bruised up. So it was a few weeks into their promotions before we saw Jonghyun performing this song. That is why there are two different versions of dance practices.) Next to R&B, Rock is one of SHINee's best song styles. And nothing compares to SHINee's live performances. :D They often perform rock versions of some their songs in concert, such as "Lucifer," "Ring Ding Dong," "Amigo," etc. Just search "SHINee rock version" to see what I mean. It still baffles me how SM ever thought they could turn these guys into a hip-hop group. I am so glad they changed their minds, because SHINee's whole purpose in life would have been lost if we had missed out on songs like this one. :D

So this was 2013 (except for Sherlock), in 2014 Shinee promoted in Japan for a bit, then went on hiatus while Onew had vocal cord surgery. Taemin went solo, then in early 2015 Jonghyun did too. So the next Korean comeback wasn't till May 2015 with View, then Married to the music for the repackage. MTTM has both a great MV and even even better live stages, they really had fun with it. Other b-sides with good live stage from those albums: - Odd eye on inkigayo (must watch) - Tigger, Alive and Woof Woof at SWC5 (trigger is just cool, alive is more rap, woof woof is fun/music theatre if you have to pick) - An encore (I can't pick a favorite live stage, they're all fantastic)

This is probably my favorite season of SHINee, so I was so excited to see you react! (And now you can go listen to the albums from that year on your own and enjoy ALL the music!!) I was so worried you wouldn't enjoy Everybody because it's not one of your favorite sounds, so I'm glad you ended up enjoying!! And a minor note while it's on my mind...they dressed up for the fanmeet because it was Halloween, and SHINee (first Key, then the rest) really started the SM Halloween party and the trend of dressing up for the day. (So I was pretty pleased last year when only Onew could make it to the party but he managed to go all out on the costume and win first place in the contest--holding up the tradition!)
@milindawilson91752 жыл бұрын
SHINee's "Dream Girl" came out in 2013. The song is called "Dream Girl" so the whole MV is a dream sequence. That is why the set looks like the room has been tipped on its side. It's also why the one set has the floor behind them and it looks like they are dancing on the walls. That's why you see the video glitches and why they are jumping and falling from the ceilings and walls and why you see Onew roll down the wall, etc. Their outfits are mismatched patterns and styles -- and Taemin's pants look like two No. 2 pencils (pink eraser, green metal band and yellow pencil) -- because it's a dream and not everything has to make sense in a dream. (This was another of SHINee's very iconic looks, and it's one of the things that makes SHINee, SHINee.) You can't see the girl's face because she is a "dream girl." It doesn't matter what she looks like because Shawols are SHINee's dream girls. (Shawols are supposed to imagine ourselves as the "dream girl" SHINee is talking about.) So the girl represents all their fans. That is why all the scenes are the way they are because it's a dream so anything can happen. You definitely need to check out their dance practice video for "Dream Girl," kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6TJmoKFaaaJmsk. You also should really check out their live stage for "Dream Girl" -- the mic stand choreography is legendary and, like SHINee, it was so unique for its time and unlike anything anyone had done up until then. Just another example of what makes SHINee pure greatness and why they are considered one of the best when it comes to their vocals and dancing. :D There is even an iconic moment in one of their MCountdown comeback stages for "Dream Girl" where Minho's mic stand breaks in the middle of the dance and the way they all improvised and kept on dancing just shows how skilled and professional they are. Check out an episode of the variety show Beatles Code 2 where they talk about it. I love this episode of the show because it has so many iconic SHINee moments. I think you will enjoy watching it. Part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boPQimeVoKt3m9U and Part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJXLqpiFr56MoJo (Just so you know, the other guests on the show are members of the iconic first generation boy group G.O.D. and Shindong, one of the members of Super Junior, is one of the hosts of the show. The concept of this variety show is The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" theme. So that is why the hosts are dressed the way they are, they are supposed to look like the members of The Beatles.) The mic stands have been specially made to be lighter and stronger than a regular mic stand, and if you watch the show I suggested above, you will get to see them up close and learn more about them. However, the SHINee members still had to train a lot with them to be able to pull off these impressive moves.

In "Everybody" SHINee are supposed to be toy soldiers and they get their energy and power from the fans. So in the MV the "creepy" boy or robot, or whatever you want to call him is supposed to represent the fans who are using their energy to power the SHINee members up. The boy plugs in the power which sends the electricity to the grid on the floor where the members are laying and it activates Key, which then sets off a chain reaction that proceeds to activate the rest of the members. The fans power SHINee up with their energy and that's why in the beginning they wake up from the floor and in the end they run out of energy and they disengage and fall back down to the floor to wait for the fans to come and power them back up again. All the moves and everything you see, including the way they are dressed, is supposed to remind you of how a toy soldier would look and move. At one point you see Minho give the members an energy boost by pulling Key's pull string, winding Jonghyun's windup key, using a defibrillator to jumpstart Taemin and activating Onew by turning him on with a remote control. In the middle of the performance, where they come together and create that picture in their dance, they are supposed to look like an airplane, that's why Onew spins his arms round really fast like the propeller of a plane. The plane has to do with the fact that they are soldiers and they are depicting a scene from a battle during the Korean War. And the chess board is showing how they are soldiers engaged in battle as they advance across the chess board. It's a metaphor for how life is full of a series of moves and countermoves. Similar to the scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where Harry, Ron and Hermione have to play the lifesize wizards chess game to get to the Chamber of Secrets. Yet again, SHINee are trendsetters, EDM Dubstep was a new style of music and sound when "Everybody" came out in 2013, and they introduced the genera to the Kpop industry. And combining that with popping, locking and robotics as part of the choreography was also new. And yes, 4 out of the 5 of them have major high notes in "Everybody." That is what makes SHINee so mind blowing. :D If you like this choreography, than you have to check out the dance practice for "Everybody," kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYbJaJuYpdJ5gsk. Make sure you click on the CC button so you can understand what they are saying at the beginning of the practice. This is one of SHINee's most iconic dance practices. And if you want to hear the Japanese version of "Everybody," check out their performance at their SHINee World Concert 2014 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpC5e5Kcocx4jNE. This is considered one of their most intense and difficult dances and yet they are able to dance just as hard as this, all while singing live and killing it the whole time. Fun fact: Every time they performed this song as part of a comeback stage performance their military-style outfits were a different color. They even had an aqua blue version that was the same color as their fan color. SHINee's comeback stage outfits are some of my favorite of any Kpop group, and they are different every time they perform, but they always stick to the theme of the song or album so it's fun to see every one of their performances just to see what their outfits look like each time. In your free time look up some comeback stage performances and see what I mean. "Married to the Music", "Dream Girl" and "Everybody" were some of my favorite eras.

SHINee's "Colorful" was their fourth song released in 2013 -- which, as indicated by the decorations on the cake, was their 5th anniversary -- and, yes, it's a song for the fans. It's a special holiday MV that was created to show how much appreciation the members and the fans have for each other. Everything you see in this MV happened in 2013. This was a special video that used clips from all different moments throughout that year, highlighting where the fans' support was particularly important. I think each of these clips were chosen to show that, it was the fans support during each of the examples used in this MV that made that year such a great year for them. So, you see them in several different concert venues and performances. Plus, you see them on the set of some of their most popular MVs, such as their "Dream Girl" MV, "Everybody" MV and "Why So Serious?"MV, which all came out in 2013. Plus, footage of some of their album cover and concert poster shoots*. *The clip of them in black and white with the masks and Onew with the wind up key on his back, was a clip from behind the scenes of their "Everybody" album photoshoot. SHINee held special fansign events that filled whole stadiums, and they even took time to hang out with fans in between events when fans gathered outside of radio station studios, in the parking garages as they were going to their next interview or event, and at SHINee's hotels, etc. I think the clip with the fans standing in the long line that seemed to stretch clear down several blocks, was fans waiting for a fansign event. The whole MV is a tribute to Shawols. It's SHINee's way of saying, "Without our fans we would be nothing, " etc. It's us fans that make their life so colorful and in turn they make our lives colorful as well. :D And, where you saw the members dressed up in costumes, that was a clip of them dressed up for a fan event that also took place that year. They were one of the first Kpop groups to dress in full costume for Halloween and they are the group that really started the trend of wearing costumes on Halloween. In Korea Halloween really isn't a big deal normally and it's only been in the last few years that Koreans have started to embrace the western way of celebrating the day by dressing up and attending costume parties. But like everything SHINee does, they were one of the first and they are the reason why SM now holds one of the largest and most popular Halloween parties in Korea -- complete with a topnotch costume contest. This is why SHINee won Artist of the Year at the Melon Music Awards -- one of the most prestigious awards in the Kpop industry -- in 2013. The award wrapped up what was one of the busiest and most event packed years for SHINee.

The girl in Sherlock is a ghost. In the final scene, Key discovers an article from the 1920s about her and the jewelry that they finally discovered, meaning her ghost lead them to it. The video does leave us with the question of "what happened to the girl and why did the jewelry disappear until SHINee detectives found it?" also the bright clothes are from the photoshoot they had for the Sherlock comeback. It was hippy inspired, hence the long hair on Taemin. Dreamgirl is about a girl in their dreams, the first verse of the song translates to them dreaming about her and then waking up before they can see her clearly. In the video, that's what they show, they are in a constant dream and always wake up before they can see her.

Sherlock actually is SM's most expensive choreography. They had a michael Jackson's main choreographer design it. It's also very British like you said as this was their comeback from touring in the UK. The first kpop group ever invited. There was a show where they all documented their adventures in London, key actually slept at an inn and ended up trying to talk to random people about kpop lol

@milindawilson91752 жыл бұрын
"Sherlock" felt like you were listening to more than one song because it's a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's album "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this MV is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." So, in the MV you hear the mashup of the two songs. (Just like with SuperM's song "One (Monster & Infinity)") SHINee were the first to do it yet again. In SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV the boys are Sherlock-like detectives who are looking for clues in the spooky mansion. The "ghost" girl -- who is played by Jessica Jung, the former member of Girls' Generation -- is helping SHINee solve a mystery by leaving them clues. At the end they realize that the girl they have been seeing and chasing after all day is actually the girl that was originally involved in the mystery when they find an article talking about her from 1910 and they discover that they must have been seeing a ghost. SHINee are supposed to be detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line of the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and they have that move that looks like they are bushing dust from their sleeves, etc. As you noticed, the brand name on the computer was iWatson. Like Sherlock Holmes' sidekick Watson. The computer helped SHINee solve the mystery. SHINee was actually starting a fashion trend at that time. As you may remember, SHINee are known for being one step ahead when it comes to fashion because they are the ones that start the trends in Korea that eventually influence fashion trends around the world. Fashion designers actually covet a chance to work with SHINee, or any of the members individually for that matter, because they know that if they can get SHINee to wear their clothes that they will become super popular. You just wish you could look as cool as Key does. LOL And, yes, this was the era of Taemin with long hair. Although, in the MV, Taemin's really long hair was a wig. If you notice he only has long straight hair during the dance breaks, but during the story sections his hair is much shorter and kind of curly. However, he really did grow his hair long for a while. Taemin with long hair is one of his most iconic looks. I didn't really like Taemin's wig look, but Taemin with naturally long hair is one of my favorites. (He is actually known for making girls jealous because his hair is so perfect.) Many people thing that Taemin with long hair made him look pretty like a girl, but I actually thing it's kind of a masculine look on him. Taemin's hairstyle also made him one of the most popular of the members with their Japanese fans. This was the era when SHINee really started to solidify themselves as Japanese artists, so Taemin's look had Japanese fans gravitating to them. (SHINee debuted in Japan in 2011 and now they are considered one of the most popular artists in Japan as well.) "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" came out in 2012 -- 4 years after their debut with "Replay." So Taemin is now 18 in this MV. Onew is 22, Jonghyun is 21 and Key and Minho are 20. The choreography for "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was created by Tony Testa a very well-known "Hollywood"-famous American choreographer who has also worked with some of the most famous artists, productions and dancers in the world, including Michael Jackson. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever. Once again, SHINee were trendsetters and, because of SHINee's skill level, SM became the first to see the value in using a well-known choreographer to help create their dances and to strive for a level of choreography and video production that surpassed anything that had ever been done before. (Now, SHINee -- and numerous SM groups -- have worked with Tony Testa multiple times over the years.) Today it's common place for Kpop companies to have really famous in-house choreographers, and to seek out people in the industry who are really making a name for themselves to choreograph for them, but SHINee was one of the first. If you want to see the choreography even better you should check out SHINee's "Sherlock" dance practice video, or better yet, one of their live concert performances of "Sherlock (Clue & Note)." I recommend their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul performance from 2015, kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2XTeoGXnaeiiLs. If you think the MV is good, just wait until you see them perform it live. "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" live is on a whole other level.

I really love that you dont make the reactions about their hair, or how young they look, so many people cant pay attention to how fun, how fresh, how good these songs/mvs are just because they're focusing on visuals.

Tanto camino por recorrer, te recomiendo la era 1 of 1 que tiene canciones como Prism, Feel Good, Lipstick, Tell me what to do, Shift, 1 of 1, es que el álbum es muy bueno, también la era de ODD con canciones como Odd eye, Love Sick, View, Romance, Alive (esta presentación en vivo es espectacular), An Ode To you, pero te super recomiendo buscar las versiones en vivo, son espectaculares.

Watch Shinee's first live stage of Dream girl, on MCountdown, enjoy the amazing prop choreo, then scroll down to the comment section under the video to see what you missed ;) (Not sure this would be ok for a reaction because of mnet, just something fun if you have time to watch)

Next era is… View / Married to the Music. So you need both of those songs. They also performed Odd Eye (you CANNOT miss this!), Love Sick (continuation of Replay’s story), & An Encore (one of their best ballads). They also did end of the year music shows including Savior (where you can watch Taemin cutely fall on his butt on national television).

Putting SHINee in a box is the biggest mistake anyone can make. I've figured it out the hard way. Like you got surprised here with Taemin's long note, Minho's vocal in a Verse part, Key's lower note, Onew's spinning that mic stand and Jonghyun, well he's a beast. SHINee are dynamic, out of box, capable of surprising you in more ways than you can count. I regret finding this out just recently, eventhough I've known SHINee and been a casual fan for a decade. All these songs, I wasn't a big fan of, back when they released them. But now I appreciate them a lot better now when I expanded my musical horizon. And yes, there are genres that I don't like but SHINee doing the same genre is always gonna be an exception. You don't know how many times I say "I hate SHINee" just because I find myself liking things past me couldn't. It's like you said, whatever they do, there's always that SHINee's powerful vocals backing it up, that distinct SHINee flair, that sound that just makes everything, SHINee-like. It's like They are their own genre.

I was supposed to be working but I couldn't resist watching and enjoying your reactions! I have listened to Colorful so much (or a bit too much) because it was my son's favorite song. The most interesting thing I found is I never got tired listening to it because I had fun dissecting the vocal layering in this song. So much layers and ad-libs hidden. It was supposed to be a casual and fun song for the end of the year but they never do things halfheartedly. Thank you so much for your reactions as always Yetti! Can't wait for the next SHINee era!

Yes I agree there are genres I don't like but if SHINee does it then I love the song because the vocals support the song. A genre I don't usually like is edm or rap, so their album Lucifer has alot of rap in their songs, but SHINee adds in those vocals so it makes the song great! Also the song Alive the rap exchange with Minho and Key is fire. Is it just me, but rap in korean language doesn't annoy me like American rap. It does not sound as harsh?... it feels like that to me
