Ship Briefing: PBN Y-wing Bomber

Welcome to Ship Briefings, a series of short videos that will expand upon the lore of Remnant: A Star Wars Fan Series.
This is the PBN Y-wing, a large bomber that was refitted from a patrol craft. Expect to see it in future videos and scenes. The original model is by EC Henry, and I've textured the model.

This is one of my favorite Y-Wing designs, making it a big enough craft to staff a small crew and gunner makes it an ideal craft. I am curious if it could hold it's own against similar sized craft like the ARC-170, or the original clone wars era Y-Wing. But yeah I really enjoy this design and I'm sure if you have enough of these anything smaller than a star destroyer is going to be shaking in its boots.

Honestly i love this kind of design. It should have poor combat performance in general being to slow, sluggish and lacking maneuverability. it should have stronger than normal shields. These factors explain why its never seen in the OT (part of making new ships and equipment for the OT era is having a reason for why we never see it in the OT) These were used for long range reconnaissance and screaming missions- they were fitted with expensive surveillance equipment and thus were more expensive and were normally to valuable to be used as normal combat ships.

Assuming you were to pull each directly out of their respective era and put them head-to-head, the PBN would win hands down. Not necessarily because of design, but because the technology in it is significantly more advanced, by several decades at that. Better shield tech, better armor alloys, better sensors and targeting systems, more powerful lasers, better tracking software on ordnance, etc.

I hit the like button as soon as the Rogue Squadron music came on - looking to seeing more of this thing in future videos! I like that this design leans into the Y-Wings strengths of firepower and armor, and basically ditches agility in favor of brute forcing its way through anything in its way.
