Great video. It’s so nice seeing sturgeons still in our local waters!

So, at 3:24 the big guy is not afraid of you, he is just doing his social distancing. Thanks...great vid!

Yes! I kind of managed to hide behind that big round rock in the foreground and lifted my camera up to catch him/her but eventually he/she noticed me. I didn't make any sudden movements so he/she just let the current drift him/her away! One. of the better encounters I've had out there! Thank you for the visit

Any details on the wreck Rob?

A well known tug on the Columbia river. Rebuilt from the Elco in 1925. Ran until around the 1940 when it sat tied up until 1960. It was blown up and sank where she lies now. A really great history on it in the book 'Historic Shipwrecks of the West Kootenays' by the UASBC.

Love your videos. Looks like awesome dives. You ever need a dive buddy? I’m a couple hrs away but would definitely drive up. The Slocan Lake visibility looks incredible, does it get worse in summer?

Hello Luke and thank you for the visit! At this stage in my dive career (over 2500 dives and over 600 dives solo) I really prefer to dive alone. I have redundant air systems and i'm pretty conservative when it comes to depth. That shot of the sturgeon would have been almost impossible to get if I had a dive buddy down there with me. Thank you for the offer! There is a pretty big population of divers in this area so I'm sure if you were putting something in the pennywise or paper you could find several buddies. Slocan usually stays good until July or so but that hasn't been the case every year... it's certainly one of my favorite lakes! Cheers and thanks again.

How deep is that? I've always been afraid of currents sweeping me away in big river's like that.

it averages 55 - 70 feet deep. There is a massive current. Only possible to kinda drift and go with the flow. possible to stay in one spot laying on the bottom and holding on. Need good boat captain and a good boat for pick up out there.
