I love my f3r and 95T. I think a 111 in vanax 37 is next on the list. Dealing with Tamara from Recon1 is a added bonus from buying from recon1. She’s a sweetheart and an expert in quality customer service.

Andrew Emerson awesome lineup! The 111 is a cool but huge knife. And Tamar is a gem.

Ok I'm digging this one the clip is sweet plus the thickness of the Titanium frame and milling giving it a lighter weight 👏👏👍

Thanks Doc. I've been doing a little shopping for these too lately, but haven't been able to find much stock. I was going to ask you, where you found this one. But you answered that, late in the video.

Beautiful knife. The flipping action looks so smooth. The carbon fiber looked perfect. 900 $ sounds like a great price. I'm surprised you are selling the old knives. You have an awesome collection
@christamu26 жыл бұрын
I love the Neon Lite. It's a great EDC and in my top 5 for smoothness. I've had my eye on the micarta F3's. I've owned an F95 and a few others and I don't think you'll notice a difference between SRBS and MRBS. Mechanically the extra balls slightly increase friction (still incredibly smooth) in the system but the extra bearing surface improves strength and stability.
@DoctorFrunkey6 жыл бұрын
Chris Allison the NeOn is on my list... I do think the MRBS is smoother, maybe because of the extra stability.

Very Nice! My ZT 0452CF weighs 4.4oz, but only has one Ti scale, so the Shirogorov is pretty impressive.

I dont know what it is but I am loving this F3R! Put those copper CF scales on this F3R and man, that's one of my favorite knives right there!
@kevinlynch35886 жыл бұрын
I wish Shirogorov put all the flat hardware on one side, show side, and the slotted hardware on the other for aesthetics.

Perhaps they can be reversed. I like it this way.

Just ordered one in M390 with Orange Carbon Fiber Scales from Recon1. Hope that my box is not crushed....not at that price..they should be packaging it well. :-)

OK...got the knife...(BIG reach for me!)...I have some good production knives, WE, ZT, Spyderco, Microtech....and I waited a week to say anything about this knife...as it is simple and spartan....but now..after having it a week...I GET it. Super refined. Balanced. Subtle (like the orange carbon fiber). There is something about the knife that is incredible...but not perhaps obviously apparent online or even on quick inspection perhaps. I handle the knife and then some of my others..and it is special. I LOVE it. I can see that it may not be for everyone. My box is uncrushed, too! :-) I see that you had great fun at Bladeshow...I spent that money on my Shiro! ....and have some left over. Thanks for all of the posts.

Looks great. Vanax 37 is definitely a peculiar steel, although the copper content you mentioned has been attributed to being just a trace element (I'm sure you've looked at the description on ZKnives). You mentioned the fact that the F3R is essentially a framelock with overlays, and for that reason I personally prefer the F95R. Still, can't go wrong with a Shiro, especially the new R models. Have you seen the new HatiOn model? I've been lusting after that one but they're so new and nearly impossible to find.

You're quite welcome, Doc. It got late on me last night and I ended up not watching again, but I will tonight. I got a Hati knockoff for Christmas with that notch. Exactly like that one. It's very, vary nice, a steal at $62, I think it was. D2. Allegedly. I see there's a Vanax 75, but I know of no knives yet that utilize it. My blade steel app says Kershaw - KERSHAW! - is supposed to be working on a knife with Vanax 75.
@darqentries4 жыл бұрын
Misleading people on the blade size could cause people a whole lotta problems. Glad I saw this video before I bought one. Guess its now the Neon for me.
@cameronutt63836 жыл бұрын
Looks nice. Sigma looked a little bit more drop shut in the action to me, but I like the design of your new one better. For a laugh I tried googling Shirogorov knives and the cheapest one I found was a Hati in orange G10 (it was pretty ugly in my opinion) and it was about $730, so still definitely not a brand I can see myself owning in the foreseeable future. I'm still just stoked beyond measure to order a Koenig Arius a few days ago (marbled carbon fiber and green Anodization, might upgrade it further later on). So if that last Shiro was in your top 5 what are your other 4?
@DoctorFrunkey6 жыл бұрын
cameron utt that sounds like a great Arius! But once you pay $650, a little more expensive knife is soon to follow!
@cameronutt63836 жыл бұрын
Doctor Frunkey Kinda doubtful, it was a pretty big stretch for me to get that arius and I REALLY can't afford to do that very often. Every other knife I'm interested in this year is in the $200 range so I'm kinda thankful for that.
@jamesoncross74946 жыл бұрын
The box is defective so send it back. Those knives are over the top. Cool steel.

Lol, it's ok, it came all the way from Russia for me. A little dent is no big deal! Thanks man, these Shiros are cool!
@Tenskwatawa4U6 жыл бұрын
I could not agree more, Jameson. Send the box back and demand a good one! For that kind of money I'd think it's obligatory!
@jamesoncross74946 жыл бұрын
Doctor Frunkey seriously. For that money ask them for a new box. I would for sure. That's part of it being a collector.

Your F3 is to be blamed for my F3R, hope you're happy. _I am!_ 😉 I've tried to find _recent_ info on 37, and I can't tell if it's different from the "upgrade" from 75 and 35 that was just called Vanax. I'm sure you'll research this for us! I'd also like to know if Recon1 keeps the Russian "not a weapon" form, as well as remove the bear decal from the pivot. I'm Shiro trivia challenged, so inquiring minds and all that. It's a beauty Doc, hard to imagine improving it - but I'm sure you'll manage! I love my orange flecked CF, but there's some stunning materials coming out as of late. Look forward to the further adventures of Komrade FЯUИK3У'S F3R!
@DoctorFrunkey6 жыл бұрын
slidetek Vanax 37 is a different formula than both 35 and 75. 75 was too brittle for blades, but 35 was good. 37 has more carbon, less nitrogen, less chromium, but more vanadium. Maybe just a better balance. Also I'm not sure but this came with no sucker from Recon1...
