Shishido's an amazing character. A true OG like we haven't seen since Y2. Watching his fellow Omi Officers get railed up with his speech reminded me a lot of Goda Ryuji. Continuing the fight on his own even wen his fellowmen were defeated and all his plans have failed. Just him showing up with a freakin katana willing to fight Kiryu, Majima, Saejima and Diago says a lot about this character. A helluva cockroach.

I love that moment since the camera works made Shishido look like the protagonist of the story, while Joryu and co played the antagonistic traitors

Whoever made Shishido's tattoo is an absolute genius Not only does the diety depicted on his back perfectly represents him, but the fact that it covers so much of his body is a great way to show his dedication and love for the Yakuza And there's also the fact that Japan is pretty discriminatory towards people with tattoos without the Yakuza it can be pretty hard for Shishido to find something to do in his life as he'll need to hide and cover his tattoo (which will be hard because of how much skin it covers) and if anyone spots it they'll instantly know he's Yakuza or used to be which can be even harder for him It really goes to show just how much he needs the Yakuza and has nowhere to go without it

The fake strong attack slash was such a simple but neat trick to make shishido challenging, like always got me to wait for the aura to turn red for a reversal but instead he immediately bring it down. I don't really care if he is the strongest bosses faced but he is definitely a better closure than iwami or aisawa for kiryu, like finally letting the yakuza dream die by fighting someone that symbolize it the most

Shishido will definately be broken in Yakuza infinite wealth. Yakuza status was nearly completely erased. When owning a small gang is best option for them. He would rather die than work under those that were responsible for it. Unless they give him chance for revenge. This means that Daidouji fraction clearly wants to get rid of Kiryu.

Really liked the tattoo analysis. At first I felt Shishido's being a turncoat of Watase family was too sudden, but I suppose I didn't see the foreshadowing during the story runtime. Gaiden is a really good installment and I hope we'll see more beat em up spin-offs I'm from RGG in the future.

This character was in a pretty short game and with the time he had he absolutely killed it. RGG really knocked it out the park with every aspect of this character and I’m glad he wasn’t killed off. I don’t expect to, but I would LOVE to play as him. Really wanted to play as some less than heroic characters for a while

I really want Shishido to cross paths with Kaito someday, or maybe even Ryuji given all of the respect and foreshadowing this game had for him. I hadn't respected a final boss in a Yakuza game like I have Shishido since Ryuji and Mine to a lesser extent, I'm so happy they decided not to waste him like they did so many other compelling characters. Maybe the Daidoji feuds with the powers that be similar to RK or maybe someone's targeting retired Yakuza and they send him as a result and he mixes it up with The Yagami Detective Agency. Maybe he and a bunch of other agents go rogue and form their own crew and take down the Daidouji. Maybe he finds Kiryu and Ichiban after being sent to tie up lose ends and beats them down but, like Ryuji before him, stops short when he realizes that Kiryu is old and sick. Who knows? There's so much potential for Shishido though, and I pray that they use him well.

Same with you in here. The previous game antagonist feels so lame especially Y5 and Y6. But, Y7 antagonist really show me that they still can made a good antagonist character. Now in Gaiden they release another masterpiece antagonist that earned kiryu respect.

I would believe myself that shishido is stronger physically than Mine at least with a zealot like devotion behind his endurance, but i dont think he would have as good a technique. I still like to think that Mine was the hardest opponent Kiryu went up against in general(not counting the Amon fights). But shishido would probably take one of the top spots among Mine, Goda, and Saejima i guess. I do wonder how an actual fight with Tendo would end. He does have a dragon tattoo after all. Its seems that most characters with specific tattoos get to be the hardest in lore. In that sense, Fushido Shimano would be up there as well as he sports a tiger tattoo. Also like to add that Joji also presented a decent challenge, but not as much as the others.

In the yakuza world you can’t just flaunt an elite tattoo with earning it why ichi has the dragon fish. Also that’s why Ryuji was so revered he was considered a dragon which only Kiryu was called

I LOVE Shishido and I've played every entry in the series. I love that through sheer anger and force of will, he held off a tired Saejima and Majima and still had energy in the tank to have a 1v1 with Kiryu. He's not the strongest of the Yakuza, but his desperation to maintain the only way of life he's ever known allowed him to briefly stand up there with the very greatest and hold his ground for his beliefs. My third fav villain in the series.

I wouldn’t say he’s on the same level as Mine, as I believe that Mine is very close to Kiryu, Saejima, and Majima, but Shishido is definitely stronger than Ryuji and Aizawa imo. He’s well deserving of the 2nd strongest final boss.

Shishido had Saejima using both hands to hold back Shishido’s one, while Shishido’s other hand was busy being impaled by Majima’s knife. Yeah in most scenarios Mine would win against Shishido, but replace Kiryu with Mine during Shishido’s final boss fight where he’s desperately fighting to salvage the Yakuza life, as well as his efforts to escape his years of torture and slavery and finally stand at the top, and Mine is gonna be reintroduced back to his post-Yakuza 3 life of being a Mine-shaped stain on a concrete floor💀

I Lowkey want to see more of Shishido he was the first final boss in a long while to have me excited and grinning like a child. I believe a playable character would kinda have Majima Esc styles though cause it was a hammer and sword we saw him use most as Majima had slugger and mad dog. Shishido and Nishitani will probably show up in Infinite Wealth. They have to come across Kiryu again, and they have no other chances than the next game. It would be a perfect chance for them to initially fight Kiryu, but then take his side and fight against the Daidoji for capturing them

I thought Shishido was a great villain and his final boss fight was awesome but one thing I don't like that this series does is have you beat the main villain several times before the final boss fight. As great as their fights were, Ryuji Goda, Aizawa, and Shishido felt kind of diminished as threats since Kiryu had already kicked their asses several times prior. People like to hate on Iwami but since Kiryu hadn't actually beaten him before, he felt like more of a threat. Same for Shibusawa and Mine. I get that they wanted to show that Shishio was desperate and going all-out but I would have preferred if there was only one fight against him at the end.

I reeeeally don't agree with this take, personally. A fight beforehand doesn't mean anything if nor Kiryu nor the antagonist were going all out beforehand. Sure, Kiryu might've beaten Shishido before, but he wasn't fighting like a cornered beast until his final battle. While someone like Iwami... I genuinely cannot fathom how he could come across as threatening, he just felt like he wasn't even a real fighter. Hell, even Shibusawa rubbed me the wrong way at first

I wasn't able to bring it up much since I was pressed for time, but there was an evolution to Shishido's fighting style from Chapter 1 to the Final boss fight which I loved since it made Shishido look like he really is learning Just some of my tidbits here and there -Shishido finally using blades to fight Kiryu (after Kiryu goaded him in using it in Ch1) -Shishido using a heat action in the final boss fight (Essence of Finishing Stomp) -Tiger drop not dropping Shishido when he loses the blade -Shishido able to block Kiryu's punch with his own in the final fight (His downfall in their second fight) -Shishido and Kiryu's first fight ending with a headbutt where Kiryu got pushed back, but in the final fight Kiryu won the headbutt (also they switch places)

They did it well with Mine because we actually see him training and winning a fight before he fights Kiryu at the end. The game establishes his strength to show he may be a match with Kiryu so that they seem more like equals when the final fight comes around.

I could see nishitani and shishido being used in a similar manner to Soma, Akutsu and RK. Where their new "yakuza" is nothing more as a front for the daidoji/government's illicit dealings. With the yakuza being slaves for the government, it justifies why people like watase and daigo wanted the Tojo and Omi had to disband. In the end a yakuza without freedom isn't a true yakuza.

I mean, Shishido is cool as f**k and I have no doubts of his strength, but he fights against Kiryu, Majima and Saejima when they all are about their 50's. You said age is not an excuse but (personally) I think it is. In Yakuza 2 Kiryu is way more powerful than LAD: Gaiden. He could beat Ryuji Goda with his bare hands after being shot. Mine would be an interesting oponent to Shishido, but I think Shishido could win without suffering too much. BUT he could easily crash Nishikiyama, Kido, Watase, Aizawa, Iwami, Daigo Dojima, Shinada, Tanimura, Akiyama, Shibusawa, Awano, Kuze and all the Y7 party (I love Ichiban and the others but they have nothing to do against Shishido) Without counting Amon Clan, he could be on top 5 more powerful characters of Yakuza series

Aizawa fought a very injured Kiryu, and got his ass handed to him by Saejima. While I doubt Shishido would've won against Saejima had the both of them been fresh, he would've put much more of a fight imo. Shishido was really strong here, a cornered animal using adrenaline to its fullest.
