Fun Fact: The Fatal Frame / Project Zero series was inspired by creator Makoto Shibata's own experiences with the supernatural. And the first game entered development after Silent Hill became a success. Hilariously, Shibata once visited Los Angeles in 2008 thinking it was a poor place for any ghost encounters, which he later said was correct. Returning to Japan in the humid summer, he realized there needed to be a certain moistness in the air for ghosts to consider appearing. Which was one factor that helped lead to the water theme in Maiden of Black Water.

*BIG SPOILERS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED* So our boy Mafuyu isn't actually dead because the main villain ghost lady has the hots for him on account of him being a dead ringer (sorry not sorry) for her dead boyfriend back when she was alive. She was raised as a sacrifice from birth and trained never to have any attachments so that when the sacrifice happens she would have no qualms with offering up her life. Just before she's about to be sacrificed though, she falls in love with a visitor from outside the village and they arrange to elope. Unfortunately the village finds out and murders him and attempt to carry out the sacrificial ritual in order to keep a demon portal to hell or malice pit or whatever the fuck sealed but on account of her becoming unwilling to give up her life after finding love the ritual fucks up and everyone dies and her spirit becomes corrupted and becomes hot ghost boss lady. At the end of the game Mafuyu intervenes in the final boss fight with hot ghost boss lady and rather than escaping with his little sister decides "nah yeah she's hot enough" and decides to stay with the hot ghost girl to help her keep the portal sealed for all eternity. Frankly as far as endings to japanese horror stories go, all of our main characters actually get a pretty decent endings. I'll be honest, if I'm gonna die I'd like to exist in the afterlife forever with a hot chick and I imagine being on the receiving of ghost blowjobs (woo woo woooo!). Also our MC might seem familiar to fans of the channel as she reappears in later games on account of surviving the ensuing onslaught of ghost dildos.

I remember when I was young, it was dark and rainy, my mom started getting really worried and driving like a maniac taking my sister and me home. Then she pulls over and says, "Guys, we have to get out of the car, it's haunted!" We went to a nearby house and used the phone to call my dad to pick us up, he spent about 5 seconds looking at the car before noticing that the accelerator was stuck to the floor. Now my mom says she's embarrassed by that and she realizes it was ridiculous to think it was ghosts, because she doesn't realize that I remember she refused to drive that car afterwards

This happened in one of their other Fatal Frame quick-looks, too, where they can't figure out that the blue/red light acts as a sort of compass pointing to an enemy/object. I legit can't watch when they're fighting ghosts and the ghost disappears and they start swinging the camera around randomly like "d'oh it can come from any direction i just don't know," meanwhile the light regularly dims and brightens as they turn away from/toward a certain direction.

Day 24: I've never been fond of photos. I love cameras, I love taking photos, I hate having photos being taken of myself. I never quite understood the group's - and especially Pat's - disdain for Fatal Frame's combat. I admit that on replays it feels more like a weird rhythm-based action game, but on the first playthrough of each game I found having to look at approaching ghosts and wait for them to get close to do good damage created a lot of tension. Especially against ghosts with movement abilities where you panic about where they moved to.

That was always the first thing I noticed about Matt. I like having him on the podcast or on the couch for an LP, but when he's PLAYING . . . he just learns game mechanics very slowly, and often blames the game for his mistakes as he does in this particular video.

Geez, what got you all triggered? I said I like FF3 the most, i.e. it's my opinion. You can say whatever FF you like the most and it's your opinion. FF3 has better story, better location and better gameplay. The main ghost is scarier too. But again, this is my opinion and I stand with it.

So remember that part where i said i hope it ends up with an RE or SH playthrough? I forgot Fatal Frame exists cause every time i play it, i freak my shit out its still too scary for me to play. I'd be okay if these became full playthroughs is what im getting at, ONLY if they wanted to and weren't like "eh fuck it". I respect them and the channel, really nice guys to have met.
