@dracocrusher6 жыл бұрын
I think one of my favorite things about this is that the demon's actually the mom trying to keep everyone the fuck away from her kid because she's married to a lunatic. And that's why she's the only character who doesn't appear in the game as a model, because she's just the crazy angry glitch monster.
@DarkArtistKaiser6 жыл бұрын
I thought that too but you actually do see her model later. My only guess is that it is the mother and the thing mentiond earlier about a person having more than one perspective making instability is that the mother is suffering some psychological issues and perhaps she had two ways of viewing whats going on. But, again, the ending and what not doesn't really answer much.
@dracocrusher6 жыл бұрын
What? But then what the heck is this weird glitch gremlin supposed to be?!
@DarkArtistKaiser6 жыл бұрын
No idea, its not really explained or given any real clear definition. The closest I came to is that its a broken version of the mother, perhaps from psychological stress or something, who is experiencing the simulation from two different perspectives which apparently creates a instability in the program. But even then, that is just a hypothesis.

I think the reason horror is so "experimental" as a game genre because it isn't defined by any mechanics, it's a general theme and emotion it's meant to evoke. So at least pontentially a dev is likley to try to use whatever mechanics they can to reach that goal.
@Corrector16 жыл бұрын
The fact that several major Let's Players are known for their horror playthroughs is probably why a lot of indie devs decide to focus on horror.
@Wuffletronics6 жыл бұрын
Or youtube bait, as it's more commonly known.
@PunishedBlake6 жыл бұрын
Because experimenting in other genres often results in more people disliking if a game does something too different. Character action games for instant have to do the same thing: let you kick ass. Horror games can let you get spooked inside a world full of paintings, shoot at mutated drug addicts with a rivet gun, and run away from flopping flesh monsters that are trying and failing to jump over a fence.
@r3volv3r506 жыл бұрын
It's also gotta be experimental because if these games did the same thing or followed certain criteria then it's not scary. But with scary games they have to try break the criteria in order to be surprising, which is what horror is about.
@dracocrusher6 жыл бұрын
It's weird because horror's one of the most loosely defined genres, but it's also incredibly strict in a lot of ways because just think back to how many games in these Shitstorm videos are first-person experiences where you do puzzles and have a flashlight mechanic, you know?

The three realities stacked on each other and the reason it is unclear who you play as is because you are playing as all three of them. The experiment put them in the digiverse all right, with all three of them stacked on each other like when your hard drive gets fragmented. Whats worse, and the reason the mom's sections are particularly horrific is because she seems to have not been happy with their life before the pregnancy, then after she felt trapped because of the kid, and now she is mentally fused with the son. Disclaimer: I haven't experienced this game at all beyond watching this video just now. I'm also sleep deprived and a little drunk lol. So the dad scientist says at the end that he's experienced the experiment himself (and my assumption is that you, the player, are playing as him since you get to the bright ending. But I could be wrong?).. but if that's the case, the irl video insinuates that getting your conciousness converted into data means you don't have to stop living in the real world. What does that mean for his wife and son? 1. Are they unconscious in the real world, like in a coma, and they could be brought back from virtual conciousness back to irl not conciousness the dad just isn't allowing them to or telling them how? 2. Are they dead and nobody's doing a very good job investigating this super obvious murderer dad? I don't feel like he could claim they volunteered to do this experiment since there's evidence the wife planned to leave him and take the kid with her. 3. Are their virtual conciousnesses just basically brain clones? And the real people aren't experiencing the torture the clones are at all, going about their days totally alive, happy and fine? And experiencing the virtual reality is just that - looking in like a scientist looking over data, but not literally experiencing it? Hence why you can't get actually hurt in this game? Other observations I've seen in the comments of this video; -the glitch monster doesn't show up in the dad's world. This *might* mean the monster is the wife and child's perception of the dad? Not sure, could also be coincidence - the dad might not be threatened by otherworldly glitches since he sees the virtual system more logically. Idk. -someone said the bed in the bedroom (I'm assuming mom&dad's room) looked like a coffin.. I'm too lazy to double check this but if it's true, this is confusing to me. Especially since the room often doesn't appear. Is this just super obvious mom logic of sex=babies=death of independence/career? Also, did the dog get uploaded or not? Does the dog matter at all besides the door password? Him lunging at the player (who is possibly the dad?) seems suspicious too..
@washington-ou3sd6 жыл бұрын
The father killed his wife and son, and then himself, after uploading their (and his own) consciousness. He even killed the dog to experiment on first. Watch another play through that goes more in-depth and you'll get some answers, at least. I assume you play just some random person who is looking over the father's work.

Friendly reminder that Cave Johnson was far more successful in both usb sticking people and bringing everlasting suffering to his close loved ones, hell he was even more energy efficient too, this guy needs a house filled with new age crystal shit whereas Cave just needed a potato/average russian pc. Maybe a lemon could have worked? too bad he ran out of those. Anyways just wanted to say that we are hiring here at Aperture, and remember, Aperture is the limit, you might think its imagination, but no, if any of you schmucks had any then youd be inventing things instead of us, also as of today, we can say that officially we've had less applicant deaths than apple, funny what a few handrails can accomplish.

So this game ends with a control-freak dad traps his entire family with him forever. SCIENCE IN ACTION
@geokasshu45336 жыл бұрын
This game is super super super dark They watched the wrong video pick ups. The guy basically admits to offing his family and then himself. This is some I have no mouth and I must scream type schit and it's way more unsettling and horrible once you realize what happens before and after you beat the game :/
@kinoate6 жыл бұрын
Yea, I wished they had actually watched the video pick-ups because that's when the game actually gets fucking dark as shit.
@tokiwartooth99356 жыл бұрын
Honestly, thought the game was approaching a Myst kind of twist where at the end it turns out that the Dad set everything up to string you along further into the simulation in order to steal your body for himself or a family member.

Man, I really dig that the Mom House is super hard to escape from and it's constantly just trapping you in places and trying to keep you isolated because tat's what it's like to be stuck in a bad relationship that you're unable to leave because you're afraid of leaving the kid alone with the other person. Speaking of, I'm pretty sure that glitch-monster was just the mom trying to keep everyone the fuck away from the kid because the dad's clearly mentally fucked up and responsible for all of this, so she's trying to defend the kid from him (and you). Meanwhile, the kid doesn't know what the heck is going on so he's just freaking out and trying to find the dad and the whole thing is just the player trying to mess around with this nightmare hellscape to try and find some form of balance here. Hate that there's no deeper conclusion to this, but yeah, this is effing interesting.

Comrade, contain and control your callous crossness! Don’t cruelly & criminally crush my already crumbling, crippled corazón all over again like that... Fables is/was such a cool, interesting series to adapt. There are very few things as neat as a noir, adult, graphic take on traditional child folk stories and fables to me and has so many opportunities for creative character re-imaginings and exciting narratives. Even if you just look at Goldilocks backstory and her character in Fables is enough to understand how much fun this series would be in another video game or tv series. It’s a bummer I haven’t heard a peep about it being picked up and developed for something, anything... TWAU was excluding TWD S1 and TFTB the best episodic game and narrative they ever slapped together, I’m grateful for its existence but I’m the opposite of grateful if Telltale’s demise for some reason is the death knell of any further adaptations of the Fable graphic novels.

I wouldn't say that, I usually enjoy watching him a lot and I think he does a great job at keeping things entertaining and working with what hes got. He just seemed to have made his opinion on this game at the start of the video and it really showed this time.
@Shinkada6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say 'almost every game' but there are an absolute HELL of a lot of games where Matt phones it in. It's why I hate him on controls, there's a 50/50 chance he'll just be overwhelmingly apathetic about playing the game. I think it's why I (and maybe a lot of others?) hated his constant Simpsons quotes back in the day, he's often more concerned with popping meme cred than actually like. Talking about what he's seeing and playing and hearing.
@zedosbois80006 жыл бұрын
he rly doesn't do a great job, he's just trying to entertain them enough , in this case Pat, so they play the game at least a bit, enough for a video. If he show more interest through out the game, and not set is mind, like you said above, at the beginning of the game, that would be nice.
@zedosbois80006 жыл бұрын
oh man dont even talk about him on the controls, theres only a few videos that i enjoy him on the command.

Really I thought this game was an idea wrapped in a horror game shell. It's more trying to give an all too possible future worst case scenario. I find it to be quite interesting especially with all of logs you find. Playing it for the first time and unfolding just what happened is probably the strongest part of the game. You actually learn that the experiment was tried with the dog first, but how would that work it's a dog, it's consciousness can't even begin to parse let alone understand it's surroundings. So what does it do? It does what dogs do, it attacks those it deems as different and stays with it's master. Also learning about the family dynamics over the course of the fathers experiments while not original are passable and server to help create a cohesive side story that give a little extra to the player.

Matt is Kirk.....this is kinda obvious, he is the leader, the one pushing forward to unknown places and the one that is guided by his dick most of the time And Woolie is Bones, he is the pational one, he lets his emotions guide him wich can make him go for crying when talking about Casca to uncontrolled rage when talking about fighting games.....also he perform creepy medical experiments in his woolie hole. It all became clear when pat said "fascinating".
