The Dollar Coffee special at 7/11 tastes better than Starbucks. The Arabica beans coffee is one of my favourites. I have noticed the same in the Philippines that Starbucks gets packed out while the better coffee places are less popular. I suppose it's what one gets used to.

The Starbucks in Lucao (Dagupan) drive-thru and parking lot was packed at noon today, while Tom and Tom, Bo's in both Calasiao and Malasiqui were ghost towns. Tho the latter always fill up in the evening to late night. People seem to have money in the province.

I have been associated with the Philippines since the early 80s and in the last 5 years prices of everything in the Philippines has risen to the point its almost as expensive as the UK. My wife and I worked overseas all our married life and our kids had graduated University and moved on, only then did we come to live in the Philippines to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

@Tom-Lay Just watching your video now guys. A couple of things I agree with you Tom. No1 Starbucks is always packed yes,coz I used to live in Starbucks wen I met my now Filipina girlfriend and I used to love it, but I agree with you now there coffee is like piss which I don't why,coz it used to be nicer and now I wouldn't be bothered going near it. No2 I agree with you in the prices for fruits and vegetables, but you and Lay shop in one of the most expensive places that Market place, coz sometimes I buy my fruit there of I can't get it on the street and really there price's are ridiculous what they charge.if you compare it to price's back home it's way,way more expensive here in the Philippines unfortunately and I think that's because alot of there fruits are imported. If you want fruits and vegetables buy them on the streets, coz they are cheaper. And bro the trainers why don't you buy them on the street, coz they are way cheaper haha. I know they are knock offs, but still cheaper than paying 6500 pesos.😅

Shopping in the city is already more expensive, but then BCG and the mall? Crazy, man. And daily shopping? Phew... Hit the open markets for your standard goods. Use the supermarkets and malls for specialty items and imports. Prices have been climbing pretty quickly the past couple years. Even out here in the province prices are getting nuts. The BCG, and Manila in general, not being your vibe.... i feel you. Just an hour outside of the city makes a world of difference for a lot of things. Love my town, and we're just about 35km north of Manila. Small enough to be chill, big enough to have most of what you need.
