@@Mikael-jt1hk Do you know when Breaking first started and got popular? The fact is its a world wide dance style now, I dont think it has ANY place in the Olympics, just like nobody wants to see Ballroom dancing there. But it was in the Olympics, Australia was on show and we picked the wrong person, not her fault. Its the people that put her their that need to be accountable. @@phraydedjez Thanks for the breakdown of the 4 elements of hip hop. That was succinct and I don't think people know that enough about the history of breaking. You can see more in the video series What You Might Not Know where I delve deeper into her motivations.

@eat.food.not.friends2 ай бұрын
She is happy that the Olympia judge defended her and explained that what she showed was not shocking. It is obvious that the man was just as confused by her appearance as everyone else! But what should he have said? If he had said that it was shocking to see her roll across the stage, he would have caused even more backlash, and that's what they wanted to avoid. But now I understand how she could do that for 16 years without being criticized, she just twists everything to fit her daydream of being a talented breaker.

What this looks like to me is she's trying to preserve her mental state by spinning everything into a positive which is most likely what's been recommended to her from a therapist and is probably a good way to deal with it. I get the backlash and I think it was fair mostly, that "performance" wasn't thought through, bounced off mates, etc.. before she did it which she should have done. But that's it, no more than that, she obviously knows it didn't go well so why continue to push.
@kaynemasters2 ай бұрын
That's a good point, my feeling is you need to get some sanity after being scrutinized on such a global stage. Putting it into perspective, she did have some friends that told her she wasnt good at breaking but decided to keep trying. But at the same time, she does have a huge amount of positives coming her way. She was stoked about the attention and shes already got multiple offers from different tv channels for shows, as well as being hired by a talent manager now
@jtr5492 ай бұрын
@@kaynemasters She clearly knows it didn’t go well you can see she’s under a storm of pressure. So she has Sanity, the pressure shouldn’t be on her tho it should be on the people who approved that performance on behalf of Australia. If there was a better performance that they turned down, why? That’s what I’d want to be checked. I don’t think anyone should have anything against her tho, she was picked to do a performance that shouldn’t have been done in an Olympic format.

@@kaynemasters I'm not a big fan of any sport where places are decided by judging because that is subjective to varying degrees by definition. Anything where style gets points I don't really like. With some sports like diving it's more obvious and tangible. Rhythmic gymnastics the skill is more prominent over style and the slightest skill error will damn an entire routine. Also, the routines are graded for difficulty prior to performance, so there the emphasis on skill is prominent before the athlete begins. With dancing anything goes. Sure there is skill and I can't dance and have no interest in any dancing so all power to those who can. Skill is not central though. If they want skill to be central then athletes should have their routine graded ahead of time. Which of course would be contradictory to the entire breakdancing setup.
