I think it’s funny now how the shop is basically a storage now. If it’s a working running shop there’s no point of wasting your time trying to put it up on a lift to store it then when the customer comes in an hour you have to bring it out of storage....

@@Beer_Dad1975 I had a 2001 Infiniti I-30 that put up with 72,000 miles of abuse, 10k between oil changes, a car I bought for $2500 with 125k miles on it -- and the only thing I had to replace were the brake pads and the mass airflow sensor. I sold it to get a newer car, but the last I remember it was still being driven around.

@@michaelkappes8226 he Nissan Cefiro/i30 was a good car - but that was pre GFC when Nissan were still making some good cars. I had a 1992 Laurel back in the day, man that thing was amazing, velour interior and all. Unfortunately after that I had a Jatco CVT powered Primera, and that thing was a stinking heap of garbage. I'd not touch a modern Nissan product with a 10 foot pole - well maybe a Nissan Navara, they are still pretty well put together.

The heater valve and exhaust breaking off in that spot are common issues on the Nissan Titans. When I bought mine used with 100K miles I found that the whole tailpipe was missing and hot exhaust gases were shooting up onto the wiring harness and melted one of the ABS cables. New Borla muffler and replaced the tailpipe. Replaced heater valve later. Ironically for me I also had to replace the instrument cluster though it took quite a few repair trips to figure that one out. The bad cluster was causing intermittent no-start conditions due to the Nissan security system. The techs were baffled and had never seen that one before. Buying a truck with over 100K miles I knew I’d have to fix some things but it’s a solid, reliable truck now.

Not really sure how these issues with this Nissan/Infiniti are fair to say Nissan reliability is poor? The rear springs? Not Nissan's fault, The exhaust? was probably compromised by the suspension issue like the Wizard said, not Nissan's fault, the Radiator was old and needed replacement said the Wizard, Not Nissan's fault, and the Heater Core Valve, which is a wear and tear item, and was due to be replaced, so really the only thing was the Fuel Gurage issue and I am sure that part was bought cheap 2nd hand. So for a SUV of this age, I think its a good SUV. The main issues were caused by the previous owner which can happen on any brand vehicle. So Come on Wizard, give the Nissan some love. Even Scotty Kilmer the Toyota leading sales person even likes the Nissan Frontier. So give some love. The main issues with Nissan's? The CVT transmissions used in their cars. If they got rid of those? The cars would be better overall. As for the Trucks? Most issues I have seen are mainly due to owners either not taking care of them or from poor aftermarket mods. I am not a Nissan fan boy or anything, but after our Family have owned 3 Titans since 2004 and 1 Frontier? None of them ever left anyone stranded. To me? That's a reliability. To each their own🙄

There were plenty of reliability issues with Nissans in the mid-late '00s, especially with cooling systems. The Armada, Titan, and QX56 were fairly prone to exhaust issues like the ones shown in this video. Obviously this QX56 is far from new and has maintenance items that were neglected or performed improperly, which isn't Nissan's fault. Unfortunately, Infinitis tend to be treated poorly since people buy them without considering the increased maintenance cost over the Nissan they had budgeted for. It's likely that the cost to buy the car and fix everything will still be under what a sorted Sequoia or GX460 with a similar mileage and feature set would cost, especially in this case. For the use case the Wizard described, I'd buy the QX56 over an Escalade / Yukon Denali, Q7, GLS, Durango / Aspen, X5, Tuareg, or Navigator. But a GX460 or V8 4Runner would be hard to pass up.
@eppyz
@eppyz 3 жыл бұрын
@@B-rad1 I know of the Radiator issues on early Titan/Armada's after owning 2 Titans during that time. Nissan replaced the radiator free of charge due to the recall. Any car that is new has teething problems. Most of those early problems were fixed. The exhaust issue wasn't that common on the Titans but some did have issues. Most i know (Titan Forum info) were from trucks that had modified suspensions. Some others the exhaust just rusted prematurely. Though i or anyone in my family that owned a 1st gen Titan ever had the problem. There are many issues with the Toyota trucks too but never hear the wizard say anything about those. Like the rusting frames, rear axle issues and more. Nothing is perfect. Personally the Titan and Frontier i feel are very under rated due for just being a Nissan. Lots of brand Bias out there.

130K miles on my wife's 2012 Armada and not a single mechanical issue so far. The air ride suspension still works great. The only problem we've encountered is false alarms on the front parking sensors.

The Bendpak lifts are amazing - shop is just full of cars, but looks so much more open. In answer to the question, I would say the strangest (and probably worst) repair done to a car was my Mother-in-Law's 2003 Chevy Impala. She bought it from a sleazy mechanic who assured her it was a "good card" - it was not. It had issues galore. One of them (unsurprisingly for Ontario) was rust. When I finally got a look under the thing, it looks like most of the floor had rotted out the car, and the mechanic just sort of quick-welded in some cheap sheet metal to patch it up. It was SO poorly done that one good bump and the whole bottom would have fallen out of that thing. She should have *never* bought the car - but she is one of the fiercely independent types and did so without getting any help. :/

I have a 2008 Pathfinder V8 4x4. So the same powertrain as this Armada/QX56 185,000 miles and does not consume a drop of oil and has perfect compression across all cylinders. Despite leading a hard life of towing. Original transmission too. Replaced the radiator because they are known bad units in 2005-2010 Model years and when they go they usually take the transmission with them (SMOD). Other than that only wear items replaced. Most reliable vehicle I ever owned (other than my Xterra and my Altima who were also as reliable as the sun)

I have a QX70 and had the same problem with my gas gauge not reading correctly. Infiniti changed the sensors in the gas tank...did not fix the problem. Infiniti changed the gauge cluster..did not fix the problem. Then , Infiniti changed the AC power booster module and the problem was finally fixed. Four trips to Infiniti. Lucky I had an extended warranty.

Worked at Toyota dealers for 23 plus years, and worked at a Nissan Honda dual dealership for 5 years, now a service manager at a national used car retailer. I learned this. I would push, any Toyota truck (owned many over the years and currently own a 2011 Tacoma TRD Off Road double cab) with only 3 wheels, in 2 feet of mud, before I would drive any Nissan truck....ever!!!! It is more than just the cheapness of the engineering compared to the rest of the industry....the compensation for warranty repairs is completely atrocious. Very sad. Good luck with your Nissan.

I have a 2015 Nissan Armada Platinum, owned it since October 2021. Some of the things you’ve had wrong, I’ve had wrong with mine out the gate lol. From the heater valve, broken sway bar links, my radiator is next to go and just replaced my front suspension. Doesn’t really bother me because like you, I love the truck, the comfortability and the styling of it.

I had a Nissan Armada with the same issue. The factory air shock effectively adds spring rate to the existing coil spring, so when the shocks fail (or are replaced with non-air shocks), you have way too little spring rate in the rear. It is quite scary to drive like that. Not that they ever handle “well”, but they handle terribly with the air suspension coil springs only

Own a '06 Nissan Titan for 16 yrs now. Great truck, but definitely not for someone who takes their car to mechanics for fixing. For me, don't see me getting rid of it. Recently brought a qx56 first gen and knowing the background of these vehicles bought with confidence knowing that it I'll have monir bugs and that I would repair myself. It's 14 yes old with 119k miles and I love it.
