It's not just that, it's also the love potion Merope Gaunt put Tom Riddle Sr under. He was conceived under a love potion. He was destined for a bad life before he was born. Because of the love potion which is essentially an artifical love, Voldemort was never going to be able understand love or give love himself.

Voldemort pretty much erased Tom Riddle. Dumbledore was one of the few that could remember that Voldemort was Tom and actually put the two and two together to figure out that they were indeed the same person. I really liked how Tom made his transition to Voldemort, because it showed how dedicated he was to complete his goals. Yes, his goals were evil, but you have to admire his dedication to complete his goals. His desire to see his goals thru was definitely admirable. Voldemort was feared because of the way he carried himself, as well as for his power. I liked this video, keep up the good work.

The actor playing Riddle in Chamber of Secrets looks, in my mind, more like the Riddle I imagined from the books. IMO, his closest followers from early on knew his origin, as did Hagrid, and of course DD. However, it is quite possible that the wizarding world at large never made the connection.

Lucius Malfoy didn't know what the diary truly was, he only knew it was a tool of opening the Chamber Of Secrets. Voldemort gave him the diary for safekeeping, like he gave the Cup Of Hufflepuff to Bellatrix Lestrange. It was never meant to use against the Weasleys while Voldemort was at his peak, it was Malfoy's own decision when he believed Voldemort was dead for over a decade.

He almost never had opponents who could protect from avada kedavra so why would he use anything else. But just look at the duel with Dumbledore and realize that he has a wide arsenal of spell. Even Dumbledore seemed surprised by these spells. And clearly you can see many curses in the movies, even potions which he created. All that protection stuff for his horcruxes, or the enchantment of the position for defense against the dark arts. I mean common there has been plenty of spells, curses etc that he used in both books and films

I rather think they didn't care. The night he came back in Goblet of Fire he summoned the Death Eaters to a Muggle graveyard and told them they were at this location because he needed his fathers' bones for his ressurection. So he was not exactly trying to hide the connection to his past.

Honestly, no one knew the whole story except Dumbledore. and of course Harry when he discovered the diary and killed the basilisk in the chamber of secrets. I think Dumbledore figured out Voldemorts secret when he was given the diary. He said it was very dark magic and mysterious, which is why he wanted Slughorn to come back so, Harry could convince him to give him the memory he was deeply ashamed of. So Slughorn knew as well. But Dumbledore didnt specifically know how many possible horcruxes Voldemort might have made, thus why he needed Slughorns true memory. Since Voldemort ripped his soul into 7 pieces, is why he didnt look "human" when he got his body back. He was practically a zombie. plus, one's soul is who you are, and Voldemort didnt want to be Tom Riddle, which is why he went so far in destroying his identity, as well as himself in the process. He wanted power, and did everything he could to get it.

I think riddle was a cover up until he became powerful enough where he didn't have to charm his way out of situations.. like the saying, money don't change people it just shows who we really are, it's the same with him.. with more power he showed his true personality "lord Voldemort"

Also, he is a half blood so deleting Tom was a great cover it to gain allies and folowers, After all it's possible that Bellatrix wouldn't follow him because "you filthy half blood!!!"

He didn't choose to die to protect anyone. He was already going to die in a year's time bc of the curse of the ring. He merely chose to go out on his own terms. It wasn't a sacrifice.

Can’t really blame him too much, not like he had a choice in being born the way he was in a false relationship forced through magic. My thoughts on this are two: a) It seems that if Tom had not shucked off his human form and consciously tried to be the opposite of his childhood self, he could have been a villain eerily like Grindelwald, who relied on charisma and manipulation. But then, seeing Grindelwald's failure as a youth could very well have influenced his approach, becuase he didn't want to be just like the man that Dumbledore had beaten. b) In a way, I tried to follow a path of reinventing myself once, trying to be the outward opposite of what I was, out of pure dissatisfaction. In my case, it got me nowhere, and wasted a lot of my life. Maybe it's best that I learned my lesson.

Voldemort turned evil because the wizard government doesn't give therapy to children, if it doesn't have child protective services then that's asanine given how magical children are a rare commodity. Maybe in some alternate reality voldemort became an Auror who ends up rescuing Harry from his abusive adoptive parents after his parents died in a accident like what happened to Luna's mother? If the magical community learned of abandoned Voldemort & his parseltongue ability he likely would have been adopted by some parents who couldn't conceive or simply wanted to exploit him for their own gain. His parseltongue ability would have made him famous like Harry's celebrity status for different reasons of course.

Voldermort who became reformed due to much needed therapy & being adopted out could perhaps join the Wizardly CPS after he watched his mother go to jail, which allows him to encounter harry potter for entirely different reasons. Maybe Potter would get adopted out to Ron's family or into the black family because of Siris's relation to his father or gets adopted out to Remus because of his father. Harry's mother's side would be an excellent path to explore because we never really got to see much of it. Harry's mother is really an afterthought now that I've thought of it.
