Hey Tim, thanks! That's the song "Peacock" off of my own alt rock/shoegaze project, Supernova Andromeda. You can check it out here, if you'd like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYi8fHucYr1_gsU This would help me a lot (: I play around with a C, G and A sequence for the verse and just strum the chords for the chorus. Here's my attempt to tab it 😂 hope it shows up clearly. Bend the whammy bar at the end with reverb, that really makes it dreammy bro E----8-------------------------3-------------5 A--------10----------10---------5-------------7--------------------------7 D---------------12 --------------------5--------------7--------6

I will also add that there has never been a better time to be a pedal-hound. So many brand choices, price ranges and varieties! My old rig back in the pre-pedalboard days was a Big Muff Pi, MXR Phase 90 and the one that set me apart from the others, a Mutron III. That was it.

That’s a sweet setup you had! I had a ds-1, a big muff and my beloved Boss SD-2. Today there’s a really wide variety of gear available. Agreed! There’s never been a better time for musicians

Oh that’s interesting to hear 🌚 was this video recommended to you by KZbin?? Hehehe it’d be pretty nice if so 😅 thanks for commenting my friend. Yeah!! The DS-2 is such an underrated pedal, yet it’s so powerful for alternative rock (: I absolutely love mine and used to use it live all the time before the pandemics. Great pedal, cuts through every mix well. Also, it’s a pity that this type of video takes long to make because I really liked editing them hehe

Hi Jack, thanks a lot! There’s more stuff to come (: cheap fuzzes/distortion stuff, videos about Bilinda.. I just haven’t got the time right now because I’m busy with my band (we’ll be playing live at a studio nearby), but I want to keep posting videos regularly. I’ve also tried to go for this kind of thing on my latest video about how to mix reverb and distortion.. Kinda hard without lots of video effects but I actually enjoy making it a bit simpler 😅

Thanks, it’s great to hear that! I was looking for a good sounding clean platform to land all my dirt pedals when I bought it, and I love it for that. Tell me how you find it when you get yours (;

@@manualofalternativemusic Just got it today, with my classic vibe jazzmaster and hm300, I’m able to get pretty close to that classic mbv tone after spending some time dialling it in. The amp is pretty good, lots of headroom. This video definitely helped me. Thanks man.

@@tea-stomach-cycle6385 that’s great to hear! I like how it’s increased bass and headroom make trebly cheap pedals sound nice. That looks like a sweet setup! Would love to hear some (: the hm300 is solid for those distorted Bilinda tones

I use different ones depending on need. Pro Co Rat, Big Muff Pi, Big Muff Op Amp, Boss Blues Driver or Old Blood Noise Alpha Haunt usually get the call.
@manualofalternativemusic4 жыл бұрын
Great options you have available! Just wish Old Blood Noise pedals weren't so hard to find here in São Paulo /: bet it sounds sick with some reverb with it! Is the Alpha Haunt versatile enough to be the only fuzz on a board? I've been using a TC Rusty Fuzz for gated tones, a Hoof fuzz for muff-like sounds and a Danelectro FAB fuzz for.. different fuzz tones hahaha. I've been definitely looking forward to shrunk my board down
@frankfrank79214 жыл бұрын
@@manualofalternativemusic No pedal covers everything but the Alpha Haunt will cover most things fuzz. There are so many options. Of course with so many options it's very easy to come up with a lot of crappy sounds but once you get a feel for it the rewards and possibilities are almost endless.

@@frankfrank7921 Would love to try one (; usually I’ve been on a “Vintage” (from 90’s or early 00’s) fuzz pedals haunting spree hahaha, the last “fuzz” I’ve bought is the Boss PW-2. It’s kind of a big muff sounding pedal, but with a boss take on it, it’s very fun to play. I’ve compared it to my hoof fuzz and they sound similar with my gear setup

They're both KILLER pedals for these sounds (; I love how one of the most iconic Grunge pedals shines a lot on Shoegaze, a genre that was growing at the same time, but at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Hope you like them!!

cara, oq tu acha do fuzz factory pra shoegaze e noise?
@manualofalternativemusic3 жыл бұрын

@manualofalternativemusic3 жыл бұрын
@@joaopedrobarros8035 tmj mano!

is bd2 + hm2 a good combo for shoegaze? or should i go bd2 + rat?
@manualofalternativemusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry I took long to answer, been busy 😬 thanks for comenting! Those are nice combos (: but honestly, it depends on what results are you looking for. I don't have a bd-2, I have the cinders by tc (a cheaper clone) and mixing it with the rat gave me a really powerful but still fuzzy distorted sound - while mixing it with the hm-2 game something a bit more agressive and defined. I like both sounds, have to admit I use them for solos more than riffs, but they're great combos. Also, both are really versatile, you can get fuzzy sounds with the bd2 and distortion from the hm-2 and still have a great od sound from the bd2 if needed. Going bd2 + rat you also get a pretty versatile combo.. What are you looking for? If you'd like, I can try to help you (; stay safe
@yukaritelepath51083 жыл бұрын
@@manualofalternativemusic im looking to get a slowdive kind of distortion, and the hm2 would be for heavier stuff, anyway, im planning on buying both the hm2 and rat (i already have a bd2 clone) for the versatility :)

Well grunge is kinda inspired by in a way shoegaze. Idk if you would consider sonic youth as shoegaze, but a lot of bands were inspired by them and even Nirvana
@manualofalternativemusic3 жыл бұрын
They do share many musical soundscapes, I’ve been a long fan of both genres, so having the same gear and being able to play both is great! Sonic Youth isn’t exactly shoegaze, it’s more of 80’s alternative rock, I kinda see them landing close to Pixies in a “genre timeline”. Indeed, Nirvana was inspired by Sonic Youth big time, huge huge band. Pixies were also one major influence for Nirvana (: give it a go if you haven’t heard of it, it’s great

@@manualofalternativemusic Pixies? Nah I love pixies. Surfer rosa is awesome. But there is no way Mbv isn't inspired by sonic youth. It's literally sonic youth but chill and the guitarist from mbv also likes doing those weird guitat tunings just like Sonic
@manualofalternativemusic3 жыл бұрын
Indeed mbv might have been inspired by sonic youth. Lee Ranaldo and Shields share lots of similarities on guitar playing and even on music production also. Regarding pixies, along with Surfer Rosa, Doolittle is also a great record! It’s actually the record that introduced me to them
