Nice video man! Definitely suggest aftermarket antenna's for both the quad and the goggles. The ones that walksnail supplies with the vtx's and goggles are horrible!

@@WindjumbieFPV hahah this was actually last week when the sun was out for the longest time. Since then it had been raining non stop. About 120-130m it started glitching at 120m so i didnt wanna push beyond 130m. In China, i flew around 700m with the moonlight vtx. Here, I only around 200m

Looks like the Walksnail Got Ya has you 🙃, you may be flying around on 25mW, what happens it's a different behaviour between firmware versions, what happens with the newer behaviour if you set the power setting above MAX output say if you have the older 1S VTX that has a max of 350mW but you have set it to 500mW, it will look like it takes, and you think you will be flying about at your MAX setting, but what really happens if you check the setting will be back down at 25mW -- If I am swapping about power settings it's now a pre flight check for me to check the settings.. Love the look of your video out put 🙂 -- BTW I fly a mob8 with only the whip antenna and fly it well past 500 meters .. the first thing I generally get is RSSI warnings, and then pushing it focus mod starts cutting in. I love my Mob8

Interesting. FO sure I'm on max power. its the 1st thing to check before doing a range test. Not sure whats up with the whoop. Incidentally, this was one of the Mob8 that I tested back at the Happymodel factory! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p36sap-gg7p1qNk But I'll check again as u advised. Who knows, these things have a mind of its own. I've had quads that went to some weird settings on its own. Interesting! With just the whip? It originally comes with a dipole. Not many will use a whip antenna. I love it too. Just this weirdly short range! Thanks for dropping in bruh!

@@shogunemperor Oops my bad it is the standard default dipole -- shows how good I am "not" . I have 6 Walksnail quads 5 of them the 1S VTX unit and they are all seem to be pretty good. May be I have rose coloured glasses 🙂

The Mobula 8 O3 too can fly that far as well...the osd hd signal starts to go down as soon as it reach the 120m++ mark...funnily, the RC signal is still going strong...coincidentally, I tried at the same location as you're in...haha

Actually, the Mobula8 03 can fly further, like around 1km with DJI air unit. Funny enough, I found the problem why it couldnt go further than 120m is in the video after this one. I'm still strictly analogue, and pretty much all SPI receivers apart from a few quads with external. I guess I should think about upgrading, but I still manage pretty good video. So still don't think I need to. 👍. Hope you're doing well.

Man, I'm currently flying around 0 Celsius. Envy your weather. I have the Mob 8 WS as well. Surprisingly stable for such a small quad outside at the beach. But the range is limited... Maybe cause it has more of a directional antenna on the L i can go a bit further?

Thanks for doing the LOS range test buddy! 120m, with Line of Sight RF link? that’s a bummer! No excuse for walksnail! Sorry for being harsh. auto-hopping and redundancy carrier for IMHO tech in 2024 should be WAY better than this.. if it can’t cope with that kind of interference in open area (which is far from the dense residential apartments with much higher noise floor from 5G wifi), it has failed to deliver. Period.

Im thinking its a settings issue. Or perhaps an antenna problem. I dunno. But need to troubleshoot the source! I've heard people getting really good range of about at least 500m... so not sure whats wrong with it.

@ I see, it sounds like an isolated problem, maybe check the mmcx connector for continuity with a linear antenna, sometimes it could be a loose connector on the vtx.

What WS settings? I get 250 yards thru trees on std 720 rate on WS VRX and one down on the power level. And the antenna is the 10mm stubby most places sell. behind a house at 100 yards. 🍻 🍻🍻🍻🍻 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

@@shogunemperor Different versions match doesn't make any difference to range etc,I've never updated the firmware versions and never had any issues with vrx and goggles X,both as are on mismatch versions and so are all 5 models I have with the inbuilt vtx.

Super weird you are getting crap range. I haven’t had much experience with WS, but you should het more than that, even with the older 350mw vtx. Hope you figure it out. Sweet rip at the skate park!

Yeah something wrong with it. I have a HDZero whoop lite with 200mw max output on a Nano Goblin Inav wing with a truerc small Omni. I have gone out over 2 miles or 3218 meters pretty easily line of sight no obstructions. Only turned around because of nerves!!! Your Walksnail should do a lot better than 120 meters. A setting or something.
