Excellent idea which gives direct visual results in your video comparing spread effects of wadding types Seems to me results are dependent upon three factors; (1) reduced adhesion between the top, black coating and the substrate, (2) flexure of the substrate prior to failure and (3) lower elasticity in the top, black layer to create inter-laminar shear. Perhaps a clear latex-based acrylic undercoat covered with a more ridged, brittle oil, alkyd or epoxy black topcoat could also work when both layers are fully dried and cured. But your cellophane tape-acrylic system produces great results for display purposes! Thanks for sharing.

I have found using thinner sellotape works well as it is less likely to warp as the paint dries. Also Matt black acrylic paint works best especially paint used for painting car bumpers as it doesn't flake as easily and gives a better shaped hole. Thanks for watching :)

Instead of using tape, have you thought of using clear contact adhesive in a roll? The stuff you used to have to cover your books with in primary school, comes in 450mm*2m rolls, would seem far easier to work with than a roll of packing tape, especially if you wanted to make some more pattern boards... All decent office/stationery supply stores should stock them...

+Max Nazistanman I could take a look but aren't they a little thick? Thin is better even the tape i used on this video is a little on the thick side.

+srspower I'm not sure, i haven't made any yet, just looking around now for different ideas, your method is quick and easy. What results have you found with different thicknesses? And keep in mind, I'm from Australia, i plan making some for the kids with the .22 out to 50m and training for myself with .308 at 500m+, not allowed steel gongs at the range i shoot, and reactive targets are definitely out of the question, at those distances even with my spotting scope (which isn't even that good), i can't make out the shot placement properly and have to wait for range close and drive down to take a look. I'm hoping by experimenting with these style targets (on the cheap) i can find something that suits my needs without having to buy another spotting scope. I notice just using your air rifle, it's making some pretty big spread patterns compared to the .22, what would hitting your style target do with the .308? Perhaps a heavier adhesive would suit my needs better? It's a pretty cool concept, thanks for taking the time to make the vid and to reply, i'll let you know how i go, Cheers from Australia

Good idea, Easy to do, But i imagine it takes a while to make a days worth. Not sure if its been suggested yet but, Why not just get yourself a bit of 2mm sheet steel and paint the surface black, every time you hit it the paint will flake and rather than spending ages making new ones you can just respray that one or fill in the shot marks with a marker or touch up pen from halfords or something. You could probaly get away with 1mm or even .5mm but a 2mm sheet is going to stop almost anything lead,

I have seen a whole bunch of these videos now, and i feel like people are going through way to much trouble for this.. step one, get freezer paper. step two, tape it slick side out onto carboard. step three, paint it black. thats all you have to do.. easy and done.. you dont need neon colors, black and white is a great contrast.

Devon Mcgill Yes it seems that rather than dealing with nuanced social issues relating to race Obama thought it would solve the problem if he banned a flag!
@nnobakht
@nnobakht 9 жыл бұрын
+srspower Obama didn't have anything to do with it. It was a state issue and South Carolinians chose to do without it since to some folks; it was a symbol of racism. In other words; this was a state decision and not a federal one. Personally, I could care less either way. However, you have to be fair to others, even when they're on the opposite side of some issues that you might support. Having said all of that; this was a cool video. Thanks for sharing since I just learned a new thing!!

357 Mag Guy 2015 Yeah i may have been overly simplisitic there, i guess i was referring to the statements made by Obama. And for me yes I don't have an opinion either really. In the UK it just represents the Dukes of Hazard! Glad you liked the video :)

+srspower :-) I used to live in Bexhill-On-Sea (near Brighton) and in Plymouth (Devon County) when I was a kid. When in Plymouth; I went to a school called Battisborough School. I miss it a lot. I'm pretty much like you, in that; I really could care less either way!! I've got more important issues of my own to deal with every day and can't worry about others right now. Overall, I try to stay out of politics since the sad thing here is that we have a two-party system and believe it or not; they're very much alike!! They're both full of BS and couldn't give a flying F... about the average citizen. Both parties here are controlled by special interest. It is very discouraging. I also lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 5 years and in a peculiar way; I wish I was still there. It is too darn expensive to live there though!!! Once again, thanks for your ingenious way of producing these reactive targets. I used to pay $34 for 50 of them on Amazon.com!! Thanks to you, now; I can do it myself and save some money!! I also reload my own ammunition, so I'll be saving a lot this year!!! Be safe & God bless!
