Just a quick update since a bunch of ppl have been asking: I am no longer running an OFT tune since I got tuned on ecutek for my Jackson racing supercharger, so I cannot run this tune anymore (not that I did too much anyway). For anyone still wondering how it is and if it’s safe, long term effects of a pop/flame tune are generally not “good” especially if you’re doing it a lot with the car parked. I’ve moved past this mod phase, it was fun while it lasted lol.

For those of you wanting to run E-85 like myself, I can confirm that this method will work great. I found that by changing the first two columns, I got more consistent and louder pops versus just changing the first column. I used the numbers as shown in the video for my own experimental purposes. Now I can run E-85 with pops and bangs and it’s been amazing so far. As far as flames go, I haven’t noticed any and would probably have better luck with 91. If you’re wanting to know if this is a “good” thing or not, I do not have an answer for you. I think it’s good just for the smiles alone but do this at your own risk and do your research to determine if it’s something you wanna do or not. Side note: I only changed the first two columns as shown in the video on base timing B. Leave A alone.

@LivingAsleepHD4 жыл бұрын
You'll want to go stage 2+ V4 OFT tune if you are using a catless header to make use of any of the benefits of the header itself! Otherwise you're losing on the potential power gains and offset your AFR significantly while actually driving. The -15 will work in both stage 1/2 but stage 1 is meant specifically for the stock header I believe. Make sure you look after the health of your car first and foremost 😁

I haven't touched the launch control setting so it's still set for 5500 rpm (I believe the actual value in the map is a delta of 2000 or something). It works with that setting so I guess it's helpful enough with my setup - the effects of the timing changes are different at higher rpm so it would need some experimenting to see how well it would work or if it needs some modifications if you get rid of the launch control. I've been thinking about playing some more with this to tune in some high rpm flames but I'm still learning haha

Great vid. In your opinion, would just a pop/bang tune (no flames) be problematic for stock headers and catback exhaust setup?

Yup I’ve seen regular pops/bangs/burble tunes destroy cats as well, they’re less aggressive but they still ignite fuel (although it is less than a flame tune) into the exhaust which damages the stock catalytic converters. I’d be careful with that!

How safe is this if you're fully catless? I'm on a -8 tune for the first column only at the moment.
@LivingAsleepHD4 жыл бұрын
Safe in what aspect? There's a parameter that contains the max negative value which is -20 I believe. So going to -15 shouldn't be problematic itself, I don't know for sure but I'd hope there is a mechanism that overrides values set past -20 (but I won't test that). In terms of your exhaust, this will blow out any packing in the piping so mufflers and cat mesh, not sure about resonators it might depend on the type. For the engine .. well people run minor negative timing for long periods without significant effects but I would even be cautious at -15, hence why I only run this tune for novelty. It's definitely not my daily tune lol. I personally haven't seen engine failure due to these tunes specifically but it will add unnecessary heat and load to engine/exhaust components so caution and maintenance should be increased when trying this tune.

@LivingAsleepHD4 жыл бұрын
The catback is the part of the exhaust after all of the catalytic converters, so after the front pipe in this car, you could have cats or not - if you do then a crackle/pop tune will eventually destroy your cats in the stock front pipe and the header if yours is still catted. If you just want crackles and not specifically flames you can use -5 to -10 which will range from a burbly sound to crackles to louder pops, depending on your preference. Thanks for the sub man!
