I did this experiment last Friday at the range without a short timer. I was shooting two identical pistols, an M&P 9mm full size and an M&P 40 full size. I wanted to see if I could actually shoot the 9mm faster than the 40. I setup an IDPA target at 7 yards and I was doing a double tap with each pistol. I was surprised to find that in spite of the 40's heavier recoil, there was no discernible difference in my split times with the 9mm. I thought for sure I would be way faster with the 9mm but that was not the case at all.

Good video wouldve been good visual information showing how much muzzle rise he experienced vs yourself on each caliber, i slow mo'd myself on a 40 once and the muzzle rise was ridiculous lol

Your channel is starting to grow on me! Out of curiosity how has your ruger MPR been? I saw your old videos with its problems and I'm supposed to be getting one here in a couple weeks. I was wondering if they had made any changes/updates/improvements to their milling process to maybe fix some of the problems that so many people had with the rifle. Any advice or knowledge on the rifle would be appreciated

What distance were you 2 shooting at ? Your buddy Baton, LOL. might have shot a little slower BUT HE WAS MORE ACCURATE ESPECIALLY WITH THE .40 & .45. HE RIPPED BIG HOLES IN THE PAPER, VERY NICE SHOOTING, BATON ? I wear gloves when I shoot & on the street, half fingered gloves designed for shooting & they have hard knuckles. I wonder if gloves would make a difference ? Then you could go the other way say something slippery on grips then try your test again ? ENJOYED THE VID. BY THE WAY I CARRY MOSTLY MY .40 SOMETIMES COMPACT 9MM. What weight bullets were you shooting in each gun ? THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VID.

This is why I carry the .45 most of the time with the .40 a close 2nd. Lots of keyboard experts love to glorify the 9mm as the end all/be all caliber with the same tired points of "faster follow up shots" and "capacity". If you put 2 or 3 .45 rounds center mass on a bad guy, the split time variance is still quicker than he can react. There are too many stories about people surviving shootings with 9mm. If I need more capacity, I grab the .40. 9mm is great for skinny armed zoomers. How's the saying go? A 9mm may expand, but a .45 wont shrink.

New shooter, recoil sensitive, or very smal compact 9mm the way to go or if u want the capabillity to hold 33rd with a glock or somn but 45 the way to go bigger bullet in a survival scenario were ypu have to use fmj ammo 45 is a 100% larger then the 9mm so less shots to take down an attacker relatively speaking cause im not saying a 9mm couldnt take down somebody with one shot and that a 45 is gonna take them down in one shot im just saying ypu have a higher chance with a 45 of stopping an attacker and as we can take from this video is relatively speaking the speed of each is pretty close the 40 did the worst really
