OMFG !!! Me gots PTSD just watching him shoot that ! I had a case of firing a 45/70 that nearly broke my shoulder when it slipped , so I sold it after 3 shots . Now that I'm into reloading , I bought another 45/70 but , reloaded 300 gr. boolits pushed by 24 gr. of IMR-4227 . Makes it worth shooting at half the recoil .

Beautiful MNR!, .. Does anyone know the "Barrel Length" excluding the Muzzle Break? And possibly the Weight of this build?

Thank you! The barrel was 20" without the brake and the weight was 9.5lbs. Those were the customer's specs. If I was to build one for myself it would weigh at least 12lbs

May I ask how long that barrel is and what grain the bullet is? Just curious

It's a 20" barrel. A little short but with the long muzzle brake it keeps the rifle from becoming too cumbersome. A 900 grain bullet

I can't image shooting that without a muzzlebreak. I shot a 460 weatherby without one and it took 30 seconds for my eyes to re-adjust.

@@LanceHanlonOutdoors No it didn't have a brake. I'm not going to say it's pleasant to shoot off the bench, but I would say it's not the worst. It's not the "sharp" recoil you experienced with the 460 wthby. More of a very big push.

I wouldn’t want to shoot that thing. Shooting a 600 nitro which also launches a 900 grain bullet but much slower is comparable to being in a car accident I can’t imagine shooting this let alone hunting with it and having to go for a follow up shot

Sure thing! I would suggest building it on a Granite Mountain Arms African Magnum action. This will give you the required .750 bolt diameter.
