I have tried it a few times over the years, I use a variant on dark targets when I can not see past my pins or scope to the 3d in a dark spot, it only works if you are using your master eye to view the scope. People who have eye dominance issues or who use their weak eye will struggle !

So after watching you and @joshuadouglasarchery do this, I spent most of today shooting with my sight covered with blue painters tape as well. My groups definitely got smaller throughout the day. Ironically,I always shoot with both eyes open anyway.

That’s awesome! It’s the most bizarre thing. Glad to see some other guys crazy enough to try it!

Love the video, great tool to use! your tape job is certainly a lot more pro looking than mine!

I’ll take being a pro at something! Even if it’s using tape 😂

Cool video. I will be trying this. You looked shocked at your first shot. I bet it will be fun stepping that back as well. 🎯

I was! It was cool to try this. This was at 30 yards. I did shoot a single arrow at 60-ish and it hit the target, so that was a win for me. Decided to quit while I was ahead at that point

I use a vision blocker on side of scope because i shoot both eyes open and i find for indoor i shoot better with the blocker, i forgot to put the vision blocker on last night all my arrows went left so my sight followed and it boggled me until i seen the blocker when packing up.

My point of impact is different if I shoot with one eye open compared to two. Not by much, but it doesn’t take much either. I tried a blocker on my scope and it just didn’t work for me lol.

I tried it today. Iam not quite sure what its supposed to train. But its pretty neat.

I think it really can help people who tend to shoot with only one eye open (like me usually). And I really had to focus on the target, not on the pins, which is another bad habit that some folks have

Experimenting with this might come in handy if you somehow hurt your shooting eye and was on a hunt. You could still shoot well enough?
@_BrianScott6 ай бұрын
You still need your shooting eye to see the pin. I don’t think it would work if you couldn’t see out of that eye..

It makes since that your group was right of center. If you're now looking through your non-dominant eye, it's going to line up to the right, I'm thinking.

Certainly possible. I think there’s a lot of room for error here since relying on your brain to put the pictures together can probably vary shot to shot. I know my sight picture changed during each shot as I was adjusting trying to figure it out.

What are you using for your target backstop? Seems to hold up well
@_BrianScott5 ай бұрын
I built it myself actually. It’s foam floor mats layers on top of each other. The square ones that have the puzzle piece edges. It does hold up fairly well.

With rifles and pistols it’s called the occluded red dot trick… Ive done it a lot with pistols never my bow. I’ll try it

I’ll look that up, appreciate it man!

What's the point?

Ya know I’m not 100% sure. When I first saw it, it was intended to help keep both eyes open during the shot, which it definitely forces you to do. But it’s definitely not a “normal” shot so I’m not sure it’s really training anything if it’s not like you’re going to shoot regularly
@hadesfurret65216 ай бұрын
when you shoot from the light into the dark it is often very hard to see the target through the peep, so you get your pins with one eye and look at the target with the other.
