I have now received my second block of super 8 back from pro 8... and it is just a amazing format,, they project so beautifully,,, and it makes new things look so old and cool.... I love it... my cheap eBay camera ended up working perfectly... best 15 bucks I have ever spent...

Pro8mm is a quality company. I’ve used them to develop every roll of Super 8 I’ve shot. And I plan to continue doing business with them when I start shooting Super 16.

Thanks a LOT Noah ! Due to you plugging Super 8 I accidentally ordered an 814XL and now I’m gonna be visiting your friends in the valley. Thinking i might get some expired stock to test with before i get fresh film. Ill have them develop test roll and if it needs work have them check it out and maybe the old Revere too. A new rabbit hole to throw money in !

I own many big Super8 cams but this is my choice for travelling with low weight. Great stuff for a tiny thing although I prefer the original 310XL than the expensive modified Ronda. Some of the videos in my channel were shot with the 310XL.

Got myself a working Bauer S207 XL and it too got a macro lens. Funny part is, the macro gets as crazy as to the point where you can focus to the lens itself so you’d be able to see the dust on the lens even. Gotta love that cam

True story, when I bought my first super 8 camera, I was considering the Rhonda cam, but was put off by the high pricetag, and convinced that even if I ended up buying a few used ones, I would get one that worked for a better price. I ended up buying the canon 310 xl, unknowing that it was the same camera, and having forgotten how the Rhondacam looked. Only later, I discovered the connection.
@vybanks1133 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend getting the Canon 310XL instead of the rhonda then? Where did you buy it?

Were the 200T shots around the 9 minute mark scanned as the "Best Light" scans? Sending my super 8 film to Pro8mm this week and trying to decide on scanning.
@mungulor4 жыл бұрын
I wish Kodak would just ditch all the "features" on their imaginary super 8 camera, like the digital screen etc, and just release a classic super 8 camera. The price would be bearable, it would be easy to use and they'd probably sell more.

Thanks for sharing! Been looking forward to seeing some Super8 given some of the teasing in other videos :) Also the staple "imaginary camera" comment was solid! (Since it's imaginary and built on hopes and dreams I'm hoping to see such a design in 16mm since options seem to be really limited there in the non-professional space)

8mm looks great (when in focus). Why do you use viewfinder without your glasses? I have to use glasses with my SLR to get things in focus

I was wondering the same things, if I use a SLR without my glasses all of my shots will be out of focus. If I wear my glasses it comes out tack sharp.

Are those rolls of film not sealed or something?? They just seem to be in plastic and not in a wrapper.
@AnalogResurgence3 жыл бұрын
The cartridge is just loose in the plastic which is sealed up so it's not much concern really.

* Honestly, you should really put the camera on a tripod for any sort of quality test.... The shaking of handheld takes away from the potential resolution by slightly smearing still objects in the frames.... Otherwise, nice work.

I lucked out and bought a Canon 310XL about 6 years ago for $25 on eBay. It's in brand new, perfect condition. I love shooting it and Pro8 did a fantastic job with the processing and scanning. I wish I could shoot it more but $100 + for film, dev and 2k scan is more than I can justify. 3+ minutes. :(.

@@vybanks113 I bought off eBay a few years back. I’m sure most of the good ones have been bought up by everyone including Pro8. What I see now on eBay is expensive or for parts only. Might be best to not gamble and just buy the Guaranteed to work, Rhonda cam. Good luck in your search!

Please please please could you do any sort of review on a Braun Nizo Super 8 camera? I have the S-480 model and I can’t ever find a good video to watch and learn from. I watched your video about swapping super 8 film between shooting where you used a Braun Nizo, but I would really love to learn lots about this camera in particular.

I noticed on their website in the description it says that the Rhonda is calibrated to work with modern negative stock, and I noticed thats what you used for your test as well. Does that mean it will not work with reversal type film or that it won’t be “as good” as using negative?
@cubdukat Жыл бұрын
It'll work with both negative and reversal stocks equally well. Being calibrated for negative film means that it can read all the different ISOs that the Pro8mm negative stocks use, which have been part of the Super-8 spec since the beginning. The original Canon 310XL the Rhonda Cam is based on only handles ISO 40 and ISO 160 because at the time Kodachrome 40 and Ektachrome 160, Plus-X (ISO 100) and Tri-X (ISO 200, but read as 160) were the only films out there. The Rhonda Cam will expose all of them correctly.
@jaredvogt44544 жыл бұрын
I bought me a Rhonda Cam last week. The only thing I haven't found out yet is if it works with Ektachrome 100D reversal film. I usually prefer Ektachrome, because I like watching it on my parents old super 8 projector.
@playerpage Жыл бұрын
As I understand it, Pro8mm alters the ISO of their cameras to work with modern film stocks.

Might have to check them out, I’m in Hollywood so close by. I have an old Revere 8mm that my family used in 50s I need to get fixed. Should be a box for you today or tomorrow, says it “arrived at facility” on tracking. Maybe that means PO Box? Keep up the good work!

These days, you're going to pay upwards of $600 for a camera that is supposed to be in working condition. Going cheaper means you're mostly going to buying a camera that may or may not work. Most likely, it won't work. So, having Pro8mm refurbish the cameras like this and selling them is good. As far as Kodak's camera goes, it's pretty much vaporware. Looks good in the promotion but never really turns up IRL. IF it turns up, will it priced out of the range of most people's pockets? More than likely and so Kodak would do another disservice to the film community. Instead of making a good camera for everyone to buy and use, they think of the hip pocket nerve and the shareholders first before anything else. Funny thing is a good and reasonably priced camera would make them more money and keep the industry alive than a vaporware marvel.

I love film photography, but I don't get the point of Super 8 in 2020. You can have moving images that are 2 million times better than this with a cheap phone camera, and at a neglegible cost. Why burn so much money for a short nostalgia trip? Love your show, will be sending some stuff soon, you'll like it. I hope 😊
