Shout out to you GREG in Australia! What a kind gesture. Who would have thought Volley Ball Shoes? So, so glad that they work so great. God bless.
@iCollabor82 жыл бұрын
From the look of them they are Dunlop Volley tennis shoes that all our Aussie tennis stars grew up with. They have a fine finned rubber like sole that sticks - at one stage they were making copies with steel toes so tradies could wear them on site

I don't think their will be a day that you won't have a project to do and you can relax. Relaxing is not in your vocabulary. It's not a bad thing to be active, but the word vacation also would bond your memories 😊 for when the years pass when you need to slow down. Our world is changing quickly and years pass without us realizing the beauty of G-Ds creations. G-D Bless you and family.

Have you considered, with the metal roof and porch on your shed, putting a gutter that would drain into a water trough for the goats. Might address a future erosion issue if you do get a heavy rain.
@thorzyan2 жыл бұрын
A watering use cistern seems like a no brainer with all that roof square footage- great idea!
@mobayguy2 жыл бұрын
Good point - Was thinking a couple episodes ago that the back of the workshop will need directed drainage from the roof else erosion.
@pippaseaspirit44152 жыл бұрын
Great minds think alike! You’d need to direct the overflow from the trough sensibly to avoid both erosion and a muddy morass around the trough.

I hope you consider installing a concrete pad for that geni. It would probably act like a plate compactor and vibrate into the ground. A pad would guarantee stability and be able to secure it in place. I would recommend some rubber footers under the geni so the vibrations are dampened.

Minor suggestion: saw the glass doors in the backdrop of the goat barn. Just thinking you might want to put some fence material or similar over that. You know 'kids' will be 'kids' - and these goats get to roughhousing and one may end up going into your barn the hard way. You've likely already thought of that. We still love seeing your place coming together so nicely. All the best Heath !

Down here in NW Nevada we use a lot of this same stuff a mixture of clay, sand and gravel/crushed rock. It's know as roadbase around here. I put down and spread over 125 yards on our driveway. Packs down well especially after a rain or two.

JudithB Looks great and will be so handy!! I can almost see hay stacked under the far end of the new porch area!! I am cleaning up a lot of leaves and junk around my barn and getting it burned. My driveway is back to its 2 car size again! Lot of scrap wood and branches got cut up and added to the wood stack. Morning fire to take the chill off the house is wonderful too, but we get a few days of low 70s before a cold front comes thru next Friday. Any kind of progress done in winter is bonus but my 73 yr old body is not impressed!! LOL

I'm a recent subscriber and I've been catching up on your content, have been enjoying it immensely. I have a suggestion for you, I apologize if it's already been discussed (I'm not fully caught up yet). You mentioned that you want to expand the porch on the off-grid cabin at some point, but you'd prefer not to disturb the trees. What if you added a raised deck to the side of the cabin? it could be on either side, whichever works out best, and you could connect it to the front porch for a wraparound effect. You could make it quite large, like 15'x15', that would give you plenty of room to sit and socialize, and you could even add a grill for outdoor cooking.
@lindacarruthers34232 жыл бұрын
I enthusiastically agree . Not only would it look charming ,welcoming , and unique , it would be lovely to lounge about elevated above the sloping hill . Think of the life they could live hanging about on the deck in the woods .

Volley Ball shoes, hmm, next time I need to trim tree branches over the barn roof, I'll have to remember that and see if I can find a pair of them. Great thinking Greg...and thanks for sharing Heath. Jeez, Reed is really growing, seems like not that long ago he was so little. The only reason they're helping clean up the firewood you cut is so they can use the basketball hoop HAHA!!! I live in central hellinois, and we have a a product called road mix, it is a mix of 3/4" crushed limestone with fines in it. Like your pit run the fines and gravel pack into a nice firm base and lock together. That is generally what we use outside building in our barn we lined it with straight ag lime (limestone fines from the quarry) it is a great base for inside buildings, but will get mushy when wet or when the frost thaws in the spring.
