SWEET, the shop truck is only getting better , that AMD trans tunnel is pretty awesome to be able to purchase and not too hard at all to install , with nut inserts that just makes it that much easier and foam tape on the edge facing the trans helps to eliminate any dust/moisture from entering the cab of the truck , a company i use to work for had us do similar retrofits to busses , it was a little hard at first , when you got onto the 2 &3rd ones it got allot easier to do and the adjustable links at the diff sure help, I am going to purchase some of those for my car soon , they just make sense and work very well for axle alignment 👍 look forward to the next video on the shop truck, better more HP than less

Do you think a 6L80e would fit under that high hump tunnel? I also don’t understand the comment about the pinion angle on the rear should never go up. I’ve seen a few degrees up on several cars. Don’t LS engines like to lean back 2-3 degrees, which would mean rear up 2-3, right?
@ldnwholesale85524 жыл бұрын
I have road raced cars without all of these 'critical' angles with no troubles. Pinion up, pinion down [where it hooks better] with the gearbox in the standard location. Even the tailshaft running off centre with a 9" with equal length axles. And that at 170mph+. The tailshafts though MUST be made properly. And use good [Spicer] unis. The only problems I have ever had is unis binding on severe angles on a classic supermodified on rough hooky tracks, Which in turn broke the diff pinion shaft.

Thrilled to see the pinion angle discussion come up. There is a lot of different pinions on setting pinion angle up. Some say you read the angle on the pinion yoke, then the angle of the crankshaft/transmission yoke and the difference is your pinion angle.?! I had seen it as...the angle read at the pinion was your pinion angle, and the measurement at the transmission would determine if angle differences were in an acceptable range- which it seems you do too. Do I have that right, or is the 1st description more accurate? Once you have it sorted, I would love to see you run through it on camera with a digital angle finder and share the process! Thanks man!
@HillBillyAsian4 жыл бұрын
Both really. So the "professional" thing to do is measure at the yolks. Equal and opposite is what your going for. So if the engine is 2 degrees up you'll want 2 degrees down at the diff. Especially important for high horsepower builds. Now the backyard way is measuring both the transmission and diff and if they are within 2 degrees run it. With 2 degrees difference on a stock vehicle you wont notice it. Its when you get into horsepower where you get axle wrap where you need a setup like luckys and perfect pinion angles otherwise like for lucky the ujoints bind and go boom.
@vanstechcorral4 жыл бұрын
Tunnel of love.
@jsh32344 жыл бұрын
Merci sakes. I always read that with the engine transmission tail shaft down 3° then the diff needed to point up 3° so that they are parallel to each other. Really confusing here.

Lucky I know that truck in stock from has a pretty noticeable offset on the transmission wear your is centered leaving little slack for in and out movement center looks good but it doesn't have any give so the u joint wear out from lack of lubrication shift it over to the passenger side a little bit understand why you are going up to do the same thing but some how it doesn't seem to me like it'll be happy with a torque load with the motor shifting to one side or another could we're out mount quicker (but what do I know) anyway cool update on the shop truck lucky

If you move the tail shaft of the transmission up, won't that angle the front of the motor down? I thought that the engine is supposed to be tilted back a few degrees.
@HillBillyAsian4 жыл бұрын
Nah. Engines can be tilted back or forward no harm no foul. And we are only talking 3 degrees in luckys case. Probably not even half of an inch spacer will give him the angle he needs. Wouldnt even notice.

I have the same problem with my OBS. Tried changing the position of the engine, adjusted the pinion angle, on the second balancing of the drive shaft. I’ve put on new lower tubular control arms. Tires have been balanced and re-balanced. Nothing seems to help. Happens at about above 60 and smooths out and happens coming back through that speed.

Does anyone know if they make a removable transmission hump for a 80's Chevy C10 squarebody?
@wackowacko89314 жыл бұрын
Yes. Or more precisely, they have made them. You can get one out of nearly any 81-87 truck that had a floor shift 4 speed. You will have to weld up the hole in the floor or screw down a sheet metal patch to cover the hole for the 4 speed. I looked for a repop one a little bit, but didn't see any. It doesn't mean there aren't any however.
