Hi bro I'm learning lots from ya💪 Here's my issue that I strongly request your opinion. I was driving my e93. No codes no sound in motor. Suddenly and immediately after jumping speed calming hump the car lost power but engine still running. During inspection I noticed oil leaks on oil housing & valve cover. The belt was oiled and chewed up. Rackling sound on the timing side. I suspect the belt slipped and car lost timing. I removed oil pan. No metal pieces. Only noticed carbon build up on cylinder 6 coil. What do you suspect happened? I know I might have to buy new engine but I wanna study n know the problem. Your opinion. Respect👌

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn from my experience!!! I have a 2009 535i xdrive. Never Ever EVER put ethanol gas in these cars!!! I have had to rebuild my fuel system due to ethanol gas. All the carbon build up on the exhaust pipes. Misfire codes. Fuel pump failures. O2 sensors failures. Mass Air Processors (MAP) failures. Spark plug clogs. Coil failure. All these things failing can be contributed to the use of ethanol gas. I have had to replace all these parts due to using ethanol gas. I now burn pure gas only and the car runs amazingly different. Try it and you'll see. Great informational video by the way.

Just like to add. 1) if you have engine power loss it’s due to bad spark plugs and fuel injectors. 2) MOST IMPORTANT. Fix the SUNROOF gasket or seals. If you don’t fix this , water gets into the battery compartment and back of the car which will cause power issues of not being be able to drive or even start the car properly. You change the battery then it dies in 2 months. Cause water is getting In!

Why would BMW not use rubber gaskets? We have a Lexus RX330 with 310,000k original miles on it. No oil leaks. My 335 first oil leak from the valve cover at around 70k miles, now at 130k miles, have oil leaks anywhere that contains oil. Even leaking power steering fluid canister and the windshield washer tank. The only thing that hasn't leaked is the brake fluid!! LOL The leaks have all been fixed but i'm holding off on the rear main seal. Maybe not worth it to repair. It's still a fun car..cost of maintenance is too high, though unless you know how to work on it yourself. Oh yeah forgot about the leaky fuel injector!!

Yes they are problems that most will inevitably run into, but its worth it, and at least you know what to suspect. HPFP like $800-1100 or free if still under warranty, carbon build-up $550 or get the catch can, wastegate $3-4k or extended warranty - but that's with new turbos, otherwise diy could be as cheap as an $80 bushing kit, plus some new seals and like 10 hours labor. My 08' 535 has had these issues including now a rough idle, but if you fix it yourself and stay on maintenance they are amazing. 150k miles and still strong.

Yup my old 2JZ i know its current owner and its still purring like a pussy cat. Smooth as silk, zero failures in 17 years, with only scheduled service/fluid changes. What an engine. It was kept stock. No oil leaks. So we know it can be done if you keep the accountants out of tbe Engineering Dept.

Because the internals are forged and people run around 800whp with maintenance and a solid tune.

I could list another 15 common problems, these cars were made for profit for BMW and to break

Not really, you gotta take into consideration on how many young speed heads try to tune the fuck out these cars to make them fast and without proper maintenance comes issues. With any car if you don’t do maintenance it won’t last.

N54 is garbage when it comes to the turbochargers and valvetrain.

Anyone ever do the oil pan gasket fix without dropping the subfrane? Read that some have dropped the pan, removed the old gasket, cut the new one at the high pan end, then fed it and fit it in around the top. Then added Gasket sealant at the cut, bolt it back up and it works.

I dropped the subframe to change mine and believe me that was bad enough. Can't see anyone doing a decent job with that method

Finally just had mine done with new turbos installed. I wish I would have bought a Lexus instead of a BMW.
