@@christophercilia9214 Hey! I get tons of messages for diagnostic help so I only do diagnostic help through my website at www.shoplifetv.com . Depending on the knocking noise, it can be vanos, valve adjustment, rod bearings, pulley, or exhaust related. Your best option will be to start diagnosing one item at a time to track down the location of the noise (mechanics stethoscope or long screwdriver).

I would suggest recommending to the customer to invest a bit of extra money and get a manual transmission wiring harness. This way all the SMG wiring will be eliminated. I did that on my 330 when I swapped it. Cleans up all the clutter

And true point it's seems really not that bad when you buy a part or two but once all the parts a unit gets expensive and quickly .. specially if u love the car and are paying to do it the right way.. I've spent 3500 on my e46 this year just on needed maintenance and didn't even get it drivable until the month if November.. so it costed a ton and I lost the whole season of driving where I live ..

I agree. Fixing up this car isn't a bad idea since most of what's being done to it can be swapped to a better chassis. I actually like buying donor cars to use as parts cars so I can tear the car apart, prep all the parts I need to, then buy the car I want and swap everything over to it pretty seamlessly. Also, general advice to men. Don't get married. There's no benefit to men when it comes to marriage! There is such a low probability you won't have your life destroyed. Sorry. Had to say that, but it's true. Lol

I always get my flywheels resurfaced here in San Diego at Southland Clutch, for DMFW they charge $85, I use a 3 jaw bearing puller, a large socket and the throw out bearing to reset the pressure plate, and I always save the "throwing star" looking plates the clutches come with with the 14mm hex in the middle(I think it's a 14) and put it back, as good as new.

So what does the flywheel size have to do with how the transmission works? When I did my swap on my e36 328 I could only get a getrag from a 325. So when I ordered the flywheel,clutch and PP I ordered based off the 325 vin on the transmission(I didn't know and couldn't get a answer) rather than my 328's vin. Now I've got a zf to go in(my getrag grinds 5th) there and I don't know what to do. My whole set-up is less than a year old. The flywheels are the same diameter,but the one for the 328(zf) is a different thickness than the 325(getrag)that I have put in. But then I wondered if I would use a single mass fw, wouldn't it be a different thickness then the oem dual mass. So what does the thickness of the 2 dual mass flywheels have to do with how the 2 different transmissions operate? Can I use the brand new dual mass from the getrag for the zf?

For non m E46, only replica M3 front bumpers will fit (made for non-m) unless you have m3 front fenders installed. I am pretty sure most places are backordered on the rep bumpers for non-m's but you can check ModBargains, eBay, Ecs Tuning

Jason, my e46 2003 is losing coolant, I have put on new coolant reservoir, pump is good and thermostat is okay..still it is losing 100ml every 3 or 4 days..mechanics are clueless they have done pressure testing n found zero leak. What could be another reason??any idea?

When you finish the car, PLEASE PLEASE Post how much it cost TOTAL. I watched the video where you got the car, and how much you estimated on it. But I want to know how much it ACTUALLY cost to do all the repairs AFTER you're done with it.

I strongly advise to consider this as an estimate ONLY. I realize there are viewers all over the world. Lots of variances here. Different countries may have added taxes, fees, tariffs, customs duties, etc. Nothing like having a viewer irate that their cost is thousands of dollars MORE due to fees and added costs that didn't apply to Jason.

Are you doing an S54 X3? Obviously a 6 speed, how are you foing to get the AWD clutch to engage?
