I grew up on a farm in KS. And we had a rural route address into the 1980s. I didn't realize that convention had been phased out by many places by the '60s. Now I really do feel like I grew up in the sticks. 😆

Ours lasted until 1982, we were RR 3 Box 380, even though we lived just 5 miles from rather sizable towns

@@TheAntiqueNomad You had a box number - talk about fancy!!! We had name, closest town and RR 1. Gotta run - the timer for our Christmas night oppossum stew just rang. Just to error on the side of caution for all readers that last bit was a joke. 😂

Merry Christmas, George! Those old banks were really cool. I have one of the Wolverine subs, and it's in really good condition. Back in the '70s, I had some black shoes like the disco ones. I really liked the brass telescope. That Alaska ice box really interested me. I liked that. The fishing lures, in the original tins, would go well on my shelves with the vintage fish planters. That memory jug was fascinating. I'd like to have the gyrocopter aeroplane. That was cool. The B. B. B. humidor interested me. I liked the in-your-face jab a prohibition. Geez! There was so much stuff that was super-cool and interesting there! It was more like a museum, and everything captured the eye. Thanks for taking us along!
@TheAntiqueNomad18 күн бұрын
Ooh neat! That sub is one of the cooler things I've seen in awhile. I had one pair of platform shoes but I have to admit I bought it years after they were in style to use as part of a Halloween costume. The Alaska ice box is a good one, and that Memory Jug was really neat! I would own that gyrocopter too. The B.B.B. humidor is so funny, I'd own that piece! I knew you'd enjoy this one, glad you had fun seeing it.

correct me if i'm wrong, but, i thought those 'banks of the parties' were for used blades from shaving, however, there were those that also used them as coin banks, jes' sayin' ....

The listerine banks were largely used for razor blades. Generally if you can’t open to get coins out, they were for used razors
