I love german grocery markets. they offer you healthy food for low budget. When I went to the US I was shocked how much I had to pay for healthy food. Fast Food or unhealthy stuff were damn cheap...
@victoriaclark91415 жыл бұрын
I must say that’s the story of an American’s life- the healthier it is, the more expensive it is. That’s pretty much 1 of the only things I think every state have in common.🤔😒

Hmm, I often buy bananas, but I never came to the idea to bag them.

i have started to place the bananas in bags recently, i am not sure why i started that but when i was at Aldi check-out the cashier placed them in the buggy seat and that is where children put their bum and just the idea of that doesn't seem "kosher" so maybe that is the reason i started using those bags

Maybe Americans eat the natural wrapping of bananas?

Why are people being so negative and mean towards them? Were either 1 of you brave enough to leave your home country to stay in a country that’s completely new to you? Okay so they don’t shop the way that you all want or buy the correct brands that you all might buy, cool and understandable- we get it. But why ridicule and point out every single small detail if you’re not going to give them pointers and advice on how to blend in with natives and how to look less like a tourist. They take every mean and sarcastic negative comment that is made to them, and give a positive comment back. I’m pretty sure if you moved to a foreign country that you would want someone to lend a helping hand to you. So what would it cost for you to do the same for them, NOTHING.

Little hint for the next time. At the child seat there is a handle. You can hang the bags on it to the outside of the shoppingcart, so that the salat isn't get crushed.

As a German now living in Canada (Vancouver), I really really miss grocery shopping in Germany. Both the Meat and Cheese - Theken at Edeka and Marktkauf / Rewe as well as the incredibly cheap prices at Lidl and Aldi. You can get multiple awesome tasting breadrolls, a coke, a garlic cream cheese spread and chocolate at Lidl for the price of a garlic cream cheese spread at walmart (the cheapest store where I live) :/ High grocery prices mostly impact the low-income sector, which is a really bad thing. I really hope Lidl and Aldi manage to expand to North America.

Germany, cheap grocery stores: Aldi, Lidl, Norma, Netto Expensive Stores: Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland Very Big and Cheap Stores where you can buy everything including grocery: Real, Globus Some Honorable Mentions: C.Gro is a store directed towards companies with large and fairly cheap quantities of products (everybodys allowed to buy there) Metro is also a store for companies, restaurants etc. but here you are only allowed if you run a own business. Also you have to register for a membership which will only be granted with a certain number which identifies your company at the central tax office

Real isn't realy cheap, the products currently on sale and the "JA!"-Brand, yes, but if you do your whole week shopping there you don't safe mutch money. Only if you go for the stuff on sale.

Kaufland is expensive? I don't think so. Unless you obviously buy the traditional brands, then it's more expensive.
@SylviaBommesFan4 жыл бұрын
You have discount brand in (almost) all stores in Germany and Kaufland is definitely not expensive. Best simple hint: always look at the bottom shelf.

cool calm and collected well made LifeAsKeith …your wife wins the pot, no doubt, when it came to guessing the price. Bravo! But 400 bucks for all this in the USA? You must be kidding If you would include the quality into the comparison then the Americans could feel that their are taken to the cleaners ;-)

Ich hab jetzt eine MENGE videos gesehen mit dem Thema, was aber aller zusammen , vergessen ...? The TAX is included ;) or You pay what you see......!
@mylifeaskeith97157 жыл бұрын
All products had tax included. So the price you saw was the price you paid.
@lunaflamed5 жыл бұрын
LOVED it when the tax is included on everything. In Canada most groceries are ‘no tax/ tax free’ but junk food ( pop/soda, chips/ crisps, candy, and some other processed foods ) are taxed. Pretty much everything else you would buy is taxed, but you only see the before tax price on the signs and price stickers; so you have to mentally add the tax in your head to know the sum you will pay at the cashier’s checkout.
@SylviaBommesFan4 жыл бұрын
It is a law. Called Preisangabenverordnung. It regulates how prices are displayed. One thing is that the price must always include all mandatory price components, so it is the end price for customers.

Are you sponsered by Lidl? Hi,hi,hi. Once a year I am in Georgia. I thought there was everything cheaper. But I have to admid I never bought grousarices (my god how you spell this). I was always looking for the thing cheaper than in Germany. Also please dont forget 129 € is about 135 $. A few years ago the Euro where arround1.75 $. That made the USA a shopping paradise for Europeans.

Groceries in Germany are cheaper than in most other European countries. Lidl operates stores in 27 European countries. The prices at Lidl in Spain and in some Eastern European countries are slightly cheaper than in Germany.

would you like to see a video comparing the prices of Lidl and Edeka?
@hansmuller43387 жыл бұрын
Edeka is for rich people, but they have a very large range of product. Edeka is also a very kartoffel-german store as they have very little international varity, almost 99% of their produkts are german. (Kartoffel is the german name for potatoe. Often imigrants and liberal germans call other germans, that are very traditional and clumsy in their thinking and immovabale in their worldview this. It's not really meant offensive, but clearly use to mock people and to show them that they are somehow limited in their worldiew) Often Kartoffel-germans are also Spießer :D but not always. :) Please don't hate me my fellow kartoffels. peace :)

Holy smokes, you're buying a lot of stuff! Someone in the family must enjoy cooking... I do agree that Lidl is good though. They're like a middle ground between an Aldi (more own-brand stuff, less brand stuff, probably the cheapest overall) and REWE (less own-brand stuff, more brand stuff, more expensive). Also, with fruits and vegetables, it's a good place. In an Aldi you would have less variety on offer, in a REWE you have the biggest selection, but quite expensive. BTW, being in Germany, you should try some of "our" bread. :) After all, we're world famous for our assortment of different breads, especially darker breads / whole-grain breads. Not only will you probably love the taste of it pretty soon, making american bread seem very bland, almost cardboardy. But also, it's much better for your digestion, with lots of dietary fiber and "slow carbs" instead of the "fast carbs" the white bread gives you. Meaning, you will feel full for longer and not get any sudden food cravings.
